Dogecoin Creator Says He'll Never Make Another Meme Coin (And I Can't Blame Him)

Billy Markus—the guy who goes by Shibetoshi Nakamoto online (clearly mocking Bitcoin's mysterious creator)—has made it damn clear he's done with creating crypto. And honestly, I get it. The crypto space has become such a circus that even the clown who created the original joke coin wants out.

In a recent X post, he straight-up declared he won't ever create another cryptocurrency. Period. I've watched enough crypto disasters to understand his position completely.

"I'll just reiterate that I haven't created any cryptocurrency except dogecoin in 2013 (and bells before that), haven't worked on any cryptocurrency since 2014, and will never create or work on any cryptocurrency beyond those two. Anything claiming I'm affiliated is lying," he wrote.

Before Dogecoin made him infamous, Markus apparently created something called "Bells" which failed immediately. Now there's some Ethereum-based token using the same name, and Markus is pissed about it.

"No, it's an Ethereum token, I didn't create it. Ethereum didn't even exist in 2013," he fired back at someone who seemed confused. "I created a Scrypt coin that failed instantly in 2013, which was resurrected by other people last year."

He's particularly irritated by modern token creators claiming they launched their Ethereum-based projects in 2013—"a very obvious lie, Ethereum wasn't even created until 2015," he pointed out.

When someone asked if he was Bitcoin's creator, Markus sarcastically replied: "Yes, and I created the Internet and oxygen." The guy's clearly tired of the crypto nonsense.

And who can blame him? The meme coin craze that followed Dogecoin has been a freaking disaster—pump-and-dump schemes, celebrity endorsements, and projects that literally serve no purpose other than making early investors rich.

Looking at the current state of crypto, with lawsuits flying around, exchanges getting targeted, and endless scams... maybe Billy had the right idea getting out early. Would YOU want your name forever linked to this chaos? I sure as hell wouldn't.
