Metis Strategic Upgrade: From L2 Scaling to AI-Driven Decentralization Application Testing Ground

On September 25, Elena Sinelnikova, co-founder of Metis and advisor to LazAI, released an open letter to the community, systematically outlining the strategic plan for Metis's evolution from “Metis is no longer just L2” to “next-generation breakthrough decentralized application testing ground.” The infrastructure stack of Metis has been clearly divided into: Andromeda as the settlement layer, Hyperion as the AI-optimized high-performance computing layer, and together Andromeda and Hyperion form the infrastructure. LazAI, on the other hand, focuses on the application and data layer of “playability.”

Metis believes that traditional Layer 2 needs an upgrade, and relying solely on infrastructure is insufficient to attract mass adoption; it must increase playability and meaningful interactions. LazAI and its first AI companion data asset (DAT) Lazbubu are the key practices of this strategy. Data shows that the Lazbubu whitelist event has attracted over 90,000 users, with more than 10,000 mints, preliminarily validating the market demand for the “AI agent as an asset” model.

Elena urged the community to participate in the construction of new layer ecosystems like LazAI as soon as possible, to collectively shape the future. This move marks that Metis is shifting its strategic focus from a single scalability solution to building a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates Block, AI, and community-driven initiatives.
