2025 SCO latest statement: Deepening Blockchain cooperation: Building a new ecosystem for the Digital Silk Road together.
During the Tianjin summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2025, the "Statement of the Heads of State Council of Member States on Further Strengthening Cooperation in Technological Innovation" will list Blockchain technology as a key direction for digital economy cooperation. Member states commit to promote joint research and development of technologies such as Blockchain and big data, and to carry out demonstration projects in areas such as smart cities and cross-border trade. The statement emphasizes coordinating cooperation through meetings of science and technology ministers, establishing technology transfer platforms and a repository of science and technology parks, and promoting participation of enterprises and research institutions. As an important driver, China provides support in digital infrastructure connectivity through the "Digital Silk Road" initiative and proposes to hold innovative activities to strengthen talent exchange. This cooperation aims to bridge the digital divide, enhance regional digital governance capabilities, and inject new momentum into the economic transformation of member states.
The application of blockchain technology will integrate cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, extending to areas such as agricultural traceability, energy trading, and cross-border payments. Member states also agreed to strengthen intellectual property protection within a legal framework to ensure the sharing and compliant use of innovative outcomes. This declaration reflects the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's guidance by the "Shanghai Spirit" and promotes regional technological development through an open and inclusive cooperation model, not only aligning with the global digitalization trend but also laying a solid foundation for member states' collaborative innovation in the era of the digital economy.
