Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama has suggested that artificial intelligence could one day replace corrupt leaders in government, even imagining a ministry entirely run by AI to ensure fairness and transparency. 🤖⚖️

He believes AI could stamp out nepotism, conflicts of interest, and bribery, while former officials note that algorithms do not take salaries, never stop working, and remain consistent in enforcing rules across systems like procurement, taxation, and public services.

Critics, however, argue that if the same corrupt structures program the systems, AI could disguise dysfunction instead of fixing it.

Albania is already deploying AI to monitor construction, manage customs, and support EU accession processes, with Rama pitching the technology as a way to fast-track reforms.

However, skeptics warn corruption runs deep in the country’s history and requires broader institutional change.
