[Media report: Trump changes IRS commissioner again, Treasury Secretary Becerra may act as interim commissioner] Jin10 data reported on August 9th, according to The New York Times, four insiders revealed that Trump is preparing to remove Billy Long from the position of IRS commissioner, a role he has held for only two months. Insiders said that Long, a former Republican congressman and a staunch ally of Trump, is expected to be nominated for an ambassador position. It is still unclear who will replace the IRS commissioner. This year, the agency has changed its leadership six times. A senior government official stated that Treasury Secretary Scott Becerra will serve as acting commissioner until a long-term successor is in place. Long's appointment was already quite unusual. He has limited background in tax policy, and aside from pushing for a tax credit that the IRS had warned posed serious fraud risks, he has no more relevant experience. During his time as a congressman, he even supported legislation to abolish the IRS.
