Behind the loss, it's not the technology, but the discipline.

Cultivating the inner way in a noisy world

In this restless era, too many people are trapped in comfort, missing out on the tempering and growth that adversity brings. True growth often stems from introspection and self-transcendence. Laozi said: “Contentment brings no shame, knowing when to stop avoids danger.” Letting go of obsessions can instead lead to inner freedom and strength. This strength does not come from others’ judgments, but rather from inner awareness.

Wealth and status are like floating clouds; only by staying true to one’s original intention can one maintain direction amidst the noise. In this constantly running world, learning to pause is the true depth of wisdom. True abundance lies in inner resolve and clarity.

Education and practice can be categorized into three types:

  1. Technology is the most superficial ability. The market is like a battlefield, and the veterans have long read K-lines as the “Tao Te Ching.” Gann’s theory can calculate time, but it cannot calculate human nature. Wall Street has long seen through it: “There is nothing new here, because human nature has not changed.”

  2. Knowledge and action represent the awareness of the middle level. Wang Yangming’s “Unity of Knowledge and Action” is often disrupted by the hesitation of a 0.5-second stop loss in trading. That is the chasm between knowledge and action, as well as the growing pains.

  3. Discipline is the highest mental principle. Zeng Guofan’s persistence in fighting dull battles, Buffett’s contrarian operations, and Dalio’s calm systems all stem from a reverence for discipline. The “Tian Gang Jing” says: “Because there is nothing to cling to, one can conquer the heart.”

The Tao Te Ching says: “The way that can be told is not the eternal way.” Those who pursue fame and profit often overlook the peace of their souls. By letting go of dependence and guarding the heart, one can be free and strong.

Mencius said: “Born in worry and hardship, die in peace and pleasure.” May we awaken in adversity and not lose our true selves in prosperity💪.

Technology is a technique, knowledge and action are cultivation, and discipline is the heart of the way. May you master your mind and body, remaining calm and resolute amidst the wind and rain.
