The recent projects are somewhat reminiscent of 2017, with frequent offline交流巡演, making me dream back to the explosive year of 2017. Will this year replicate the great 牛 of 2017?
The GOAT Network has kicked off its global tour, with the first stop being the HODLers Happy Hour in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which indeed has a bit of that exhilarating community atmosphere from back in the day. The event on July 20 at the Starry Lounge 69, hosted by BlockNewsAsia and sponsored by TMGM, METHANE, and GOAT Network, feels like a carnival for Bitcoin believers, likely filled with beer, lively discussions, and visions for the future of BTCFi. Don’t you think it has a sense of "the Spring Festival Gala of the crypto world"?😄
However, to have a serious discussion, the significance of the GOAT Network's tour may not just be about community hype. The ZK Rollup + BitVM2 technology they are promoting attempts to create DeFi on Bitcoin, which is itself a bold endeavor. I have previously mentioned the technical details of GOAT, such as decentralized sequencers and trust-minimized bridging, the transfer of BTC from the mainnet to Layer 2 starting from 0.0001 BTC, which has a low threshold that is somewhat enticing. This technical route is solid and well-founded, targeting the pain points of the BTC ecosystem—slow transactions, high fees, and poor scalability. If they can elevate the narrative of BTCFi and attract more developers to build applications on the GOAT Network, it could indeed spark a wave of enthusiasm.
But to say that the cryptocurrency market can replicate the great bull market of 2017, I think it's a bit difficult! The bull market of 2017 was the result of the cryptocurrency myth's barbaric growth, with retail investors FOMO, speculative drive, and a regulatory vacuum. The current market environment has changed; there are more institutional players, compliance requirements are higher, and the enthusiasm of retail investors is not so easily ignited.
Layer 2 solutions like GOAT that use ZK and BitVM2 clearly demonstrate a focus on technology rather than just storytelling. Recently, many projects have been touring; do you also feel this new atmosphere of community enthusiasm mixed with a bit of rationality?
How far do you think the GOAT tour can go this time? Will it be the trigger point for BTCFi, or is it just a community party for fun?😎
