The Grand Plan for Fans to Jointly Purchase an NBA Team

In the winter of 2007, I was fortunate to watch several Supersonics games while on a business trip to Seattle. What impressed me was that at each game, a large number of fans called for the team to stay in Seattle. Unfortunately, their efforts ultimately did not succeed in keeping the team.

The Supersonics were acquired by a wealthy businessman due to operational difficulties and relocated to Oklahoma, rebranding as the Thunder. This event became an enduring pain for Seattle fans. However, similar situations may not happen again in the future.

With the development of Web3 technology, a group of basketball enthusiasts established The Krause House DAO, aiming to purchase an NBA team. This initiative is intended to allow fans to genuinely participate in the ownership and decision-making of the team.

The grand plan of Krause House is divided into four phases:

  1. Establish a strong community and governance mechanism
  2. Create income sources through community collaboration
  3. Acquire a small equity stake in an NBA team
  4. Ultimately acquire controlling interest in an NBA team.

Currently, The Krause House has formed an active community, attracting nearly 2,000 members. The community’s content is rich and diverse, including basketball discussions, esports, Web3 learning, and more.

In the future, The Krause House plans to hold more exciting events:

  • Interact with NBA insiders, players, media, agents, etc. in AMA
  • Organize members to participate in competitive gaming competitions
  • Launch Web3 courses
  • Participate in sports-related charity events
  • Develop open source software, DAO tools, and NFT projects, etc.

For members with specific skills, contributing not only fosters friendship and growth but may also lead to tangible rewards.

It seems far-fetched for fans to independently manage their beloved NBA teams, but The Krause House firmly believes that this will eventually become a reality. The key is not whether it can be achieved, but when it will be achieved. With the advancement of Web3 technology and the growing power of fans, this dream may come true sooner than we think.
