Trump: The Russia-Ukraine talks may yield good results.
On May 12, U.S. President Trump believed that the upcoming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine could be fruitful. “The meeting with Russia and Ukraine on Thursday is very important. I really insist on holding this meeting. I think this meeting could yield good results,” Trump stated. Russian President Putin earlier proposed to resume direct negotiations in Istanbul on May 15 after the interruption of direct talks with Ukraine. Turkish President Erdogan later confirmed that he was prepared to host Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul. The Turkish Foreign Minister stated that Russia and Ukraine could agree on the conditions to start negotiations in Istanbul in the coming days. (Jin10)
