The presidential candidate of South Korea promised crypto reforms "like Trump"

Hong Joon-pyo ( stated that in the conditions of political turbulence caused by the impeachment of the current President of South Korea Yoon Suk-yeol ), he intends to bet on blockchain and digital assets, bringing the country to the forefront of the global technology race.

The politician said he is inspired by recent steps taken by the US, including Trump’s decision to roll back strict reporting requirements for decentralized finance platforms (DeFi) and to create a national reserve of bitcoins.

“To turn blockchain and virtual assets into a full-fledged industry, I will implement reforms in South Korea similar to those being carried out by the Trump administration in the USA,” said candidate Pyo.

Hong Jun Pyo has become one of the eight candidates for the highest state position of the Republic of Korea.

Earlier, seven largest banks in South Korea — KB Kookmin, Shinhan, Hana, Woori, Nonghyup, Toss Bank, and Jeonbuk Bank — proposed to the Committee on Political Affairs of the National Assembly and representatives of the “People’s Power Party” to lift the existing restrictions on bankers’ partnerships with cryptocurrency exchanges.
