What is known about the partnership between Ripple and SWIFT

Rumors have spread across the network about a possible integration of the XRP Ledger from Ripple into the global interbank network SWIFT. However, many statements are exaggerated.

The Ripple project has already successfully implemented the XRP Ledger in the international payment processes of several major banks. However, claims that the platform is now looking to integrate its network into SWIFT are more like speculation than facts.

Probability of integrating XRPL into SWIFT

Recently, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) made it clear that it is ending the long-running lawsuit against Ripple. Against this backdrop, the project has intensified the integration of its blockchain technology into traditional financial institutions (TradFi).

Recently, the company acquired the brokerage platform Hidden Road for $1.25 billion and launched its own stablecoin RLUSD. Due to the growing expansion towards traditional finance, rumors about a possible partnership between the crypto platform and SWIFT have resurfaced.

“In recent weeks, several authoritative sources have repeatedly pointed to a possible announcement from SWIFT. An official confirmation that XRP ( through Ripple) will become part of the global payment infrastructure of SWIFT, which is used by more than 11,000 financial institutions, could be a turning point,” wrote crypto influencer John Squire.

Ripple’s cooperation with the world’s largest interbank network SWIFT could significantly increase the profitability of XRPL and contribute to institutional adoption.

However, many in the community doubt the reality of such a partnership. Although this integration could indeed significantly strengthen XRP’s position, for now, these rumors seem more like a wishful thinking that’s being presented as reality.

“In 2023, Ripple participated in SWIFT’s pilot programs for interbank compatibility. Recently, SWIFT published a report on the implementation of distributed ledgers (DLT). Ripple and XRP were listed,” noted Squire.

However, his statements are exaggerated. Some major studies confirm that the integration of XRP could be beneficial for SWIFT. However, the organization has never publicly stated such plans.

Analysis of rumors

The integration of XRP into the SWIFT system would be a monumental breakthrough for the crypto market. Therefore, the community clings even to indirect hints, for example:

  • Ripple’s participation in DLT tests (, although not under the auspices of SWIFT).
  • Compatibility of XRP with ISO 20022 — the standard used by SWIFT.
  • Third-party statements (, for example, EastNets ), which work with SWIFT and mentioned Ripple.

However, the key issue is that neither SWIFT nor Ripple have confirmed the negotiations. Therefore, the partnership remains an unconfirmed hypothesis.

If the integration does take place, it will become a historic moment. The event will bridge cryptocurrencies and traditional finance, ushering in a new era for the crypto industry worldwide.
