Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is collaborating with blockchain provider Chaincode Consulting to launch Non-fungible Token (NFT) tickets based on Polygon during the annual religious festival Maha Kumbh Mela. This initiative not only combines railway ticketing with local history and culture but also provides a new digital experience for participants worldwide.

The largest religious festival in the world, none other than Dahuchieh.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, attracts tens of millions of devotees from India and around the world. The main purpose is to bathe and perform purification rituals in the sacred rivers of Hinduism. The word 'Kumbh' refers to the 'pot' that symbolizes the pot filled with nectar of immortality in Hindu mythology.

The origin of the festival is from the Hindu mythology. It is said that the gods and demons had a fierce battle to seize the Amrita pot. The Amrita fell into four holy places in India: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik. Therefore, these places are considered sacred places for holding Kumbh Mela.

The Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela held in 2013 set a record with over 100 million participants and was also listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The special thing about this year's Dahuh Festival is that it coincides with the 12th cycle of the Dahuh in 144 years. In addition, the four celestial bodies of the Sun, Earth, Moon, and Jupiter have a special arrangement that only occurs once every 144 years, making this year's Dahuh Festival appear particularly sacred and special.

The Kumbh Mela gathers believers from all over the world, and Indian railway operators use Non-fungible Token tickets to welcome the religious festival.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to provide Non-fungible Token tickets for pilgrims participating in the Maha Kumbh Mela, marking the first integration of Indian historical culture with blockchain technology, digitizing the spiritual journey of millions of pilgrims attending the festival.

According to the announcement from blockchain provider Chaincode Consulting, Non-fungible Token tickets will be issued through Polygon and made available for travelers on the Non-fungible Tokentrace platform.

The Dahu Festival NFT ticket is on sale! A global initiative that connects culture and technology.

This Non-fungible Token ticket project is not the first time it has been launched. As early as last year, IRCTC launched limited Non-fungible Token tickets during the Holi festival, attracting global travelers successfully.

Hou Lijie has also been listed as a human intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, attracting international celebrities such as American actor Richard Tiffany Gere and the Dalai Lama. This year, Laurene Jobs, the widow of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, is also expected to attend the event.

Non-fungible Token tickets are not only certificates, but also cultural memorabilia

IRCTC stated that issuing Non-fungible Token tickets is not only a certificate for participating in festivals, but also symbolizes India's rich cultural traditions and innovative spirit, and is an important way to digitally preserve historical and cultural records. Through blockchain technology, ticket data can be verified by the public and relevant departments, further enhancing transparency and security. In the future, IRCTC also plans to promote the application of Non-fungible Tokens in other cultural activities, leveraging technology to assist in cultural heritage.
