PMI data shows that the French service industry is being dragged down by political uncertainty.

On December 4, the monthly survey released on Wednesday showed that political uncertainty in France hit the country’s service sector, and the risk of a possible collapse of the Barnier government weighed on the eurozone’s second-largest economy. France’s final services PMI fell to 46.9 in November from 49.2 in October. The final composite PMI fell to 45.9 from 48.1 in October. France’s services sector has been declining for three consecutive months, and the rebound seen during the Summer Paris Olympics has been eroded by heightened political concerns. Tariq Kamal Chaudhry, an economist at Commerzbank Hamburg, said: "Positive signals in the French service sector this summer, partly due to the Olympics, are now a thing of the past.
