Both sides stick to their own words? The Ukrainian side claims that the settlement they control is twice the size announced by the Russian side
Jinshi Data News on August 14th, according to foreign media reports, the Ukrainian army continues to advance into Russian territory, but the number of settlements it occupies has become a focus of controversy - Kiev's data is more than twice that of Moscow. With Ukraine's sudden attack on the Kursk region in southwest Russia entering its second week, different claims from all parties indicate that a new political front has emerged in this operation, as Russia attempts to quell the reputational damage caused by the military offensive and Kiev's raid. Ukrainian President Zelensky said, "We are expanding the scope of active operations. The chief of staff reported that our troops have control over 74 settlements in the Kursk region. Once again, we have proven that we Ukrainians are capable of achieving our goals under any circumstances - capable of defending our interests and independence, and we must fully utilize our achievements." Earlier on Monday, the acting governor of Kursk and other senior officials met with Russian President Putin in a meeting, stating that Ukraine has taken control of 28 settlements in the region. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian army was "active in or near about 41 settlements in Kursk Oblast as of August 13th."
