According to SK Securities, researchers released a virtual composition of the upcoming KOSDAQ Select index today (Aug 6), designed to screen for high-quality companies ahead of its planned launch by end of September. The index comprises 88 KOSDAQ-listed companies with annualized net profit and ROE above 5% as of Q1 2026.
Compared to the existing KOSDAQ 150 index, the Select index will shift sector weightings: biotechnology drops from 18.0% to 12.5%, while semiconductors rise from 21.3% to 26.1%. SK Securities expects the new index to attract passive fund inflows both domestically and internationally. KOSDAQ's aggregate operating profit growth in Q1 reached 84.9% year-over-year, more than double the KOSPI growth rate of 41.5% excluding Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
