According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, on Wednesday, Taj Tarsha, 34-year-old founder of NFT marketplace Few and Far, was indicted for securities fraud and wire fraud. Prosecutors allege he raised more than $10 million from at least 67 investors through token sales before misusing the funds on online gambling, speculative cryptocurrency trades, a Miami condominium loan, and personal expenses including funding a DJ hobby. Instead of building the promised decentralized NFT marketplace, Tarsha allegedly diverted investor capital almost immediately after raising it in 2022. When he launched the FAR token in May 2024, it became effectively worthless and ceased trading. If convicted, Tarsha faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.
