Base App users may see a balance of 0 in the context of AWS downtime.
Coinbase's Base App informs users that they may see changes in their account balance, but no funds have been lost. The reason is due to an update in how token values are shown: previously, tokens that had not been traded still displayed a price, whereas now they will show 0 until there is a transaction to reflect the actual market value.
This notification appears after the downtime incident of Amazon Web Services (AWS), which affected applications like MetaMask and Coinbase. AWS stated that the issue has been fully resolved.
Launched in July, Base App is an upgraded version of Coinbase Wallet, aimed at becoming a “super app” that combines social networking, mini-apps, chat, payments, and trading. Base asserts that these changes are part of a beta testing process, helping to improve the app's accuracy and performance.
