Fold, Stripe, Visa Launching Bitcoin Rewards Credit Card With up to 3.5% Back

The adoption of cryptocurrency-linked consumer products continues to gain momentum as traditional payment networks and fintech providers expand their reach into digital assets. Fold Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: FLD), a bitcoin-focused financial services company, announced on Sept. 23 that it has partnered with Stripe and Visa to introduce the Fold Bitcoin Rewards Credit Card. The new offering aims to make bitcoin accumulation a natural extension of everyday spending, highlighting broader demand for simplified access to digital currencies in mainstream finance.

The company stated:

Issued on the Visa network and powered by Stripe Issuing, the Fold Bitcoin Rewards Credit Card delivers up to 3.5% back on every purchase, with no categories and no deposit requirements.

Fold’s chairman and CEO, Will Reeves, expanded on the vision behind the product: “There are no categories to manage, no tokens to stake, no exchange account or balance requirements; just real bitcoin, earned automatically with every purchase. It’s simple enough for someone new to bitcoin, but built with the transparency and control early adopters expect.” This design eliminates the barriers that have historically complicated crypto rewards programs and aims to bring digital asset exposure to a broader audience.

Stripe and Visa leaders also underscored the significance of the rollout. Stripe executive Sateesh Kumar Srinivasan said the firm’s issuing product is structured to support consumer-facing companies looking to streamline program management. Cuy Sheffield, Head of Crypto at Visa, remarked that the card’s structure combines Fold’s bitcoin rewards with Visa’s global network to create a secure way for consumers to earn digital assets.

While Fold first announced its bitcoin rewards credit card in February, the latest update confirms its features, partnerships, and indicates broader adoption. It also follows Fold’s 2020 partnership with Visa to launch a bitcoin rewards debit card, which became available to all U.S. residents by May 2021. With more than $3.1 billion in transaction volume already processed and $83 million in bitcoin rewards distributed, Fold is positioning the new credit card as a cornerstone of its expanding ecosystem.
