He noted that there is currently severe hostility and distrust between South and North Korea, making it difficult to improve relations. However, the South Korean government first halted the loudspeaker broadcasts to North Korea along the border, which received a swift response from the North, “exceeding expectations,” suggesting that policies towards North Korea should be gradually relaxed. Lee Jae-myung also stated, “Despite existing controversies, we should continue to communicate and cooperate with the North from a long-term perspective.” He emphasized that both South and North Korea should strive for a mutually beneficial path within the safest possible range, maintaining a state of dialogue, communication, and coexistence.
