ETH at $2,710—what are you waiting for?
The Glamsterdam testnet just activated on Sepolia on schedule, marking a major protocol upgrade—but ETH has barely moved, stuck right in the middle of the $2,710 range, while ETFs have seen outflows for five straight days totaling $200 million. Is this a golden opportunity where “good news is being ignored,” or are market manipulators grinding you down inside the range?
Look at the surface first: a major event landed, and the price is pretending nothing happened.
At 13:53 UTC today, Glamsterdam officially activated on Sepolia—testing proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists, parallel processing, and a higher gas limit at the protocol layer. This is the most critical rehearsal before mainnet.
And the result? ETH hit a low of $2,680 and a high of $2,728 today, closing at $2,710. Exactly the same as yesterday, with virtually no intraday movement.
In plain English: the project team is working desperately, while the market has not even blinked.
It is flat over the past 7 days and up 8% over the past 30 days, but still 45% below its ATH of $4,946. $2,710 is the middle of the range—not a breakout, not a bottom, just the line in the middle.
First: The testnet opened on schedule, so why didn’t the price rise?
Because the market buys the “expectation” and sells the “fact.”
Glamsterdam activating on Sepolia is a rehearsal, not mainnet. The timing for Hoodi and mainnet has not been brought forward. So $2,710 was not repriced.
The painful truth:
Retail traders are always waiting for “good news to land,” while the market makers have already finished running before “good news lands.”
Even more painfully, ETFs are still bleeding. Net outflows were $138 million last week, -$37 million on October 2, and another $51 million outflow on Monday, totaling approximately $200 million over five straight days. Cumulative net inflows still stand at $13.8 billion, with total assets of $17.5 billion, but money is flowing out, not in.
There are no new major treasury purchases, no institutional dip-buying, and staking lockups remain a medium-term story. In the short term, capital flows are grinding the price into the ground.
Second: The fundamentals have not broken, but pricing has stalled at $2,710.
ETH is still the settlement layer, L2s are still running, and the ETF channel remains open. The network is not broken.
But what are you buying at $2,710? You are buying “the structure has not broken + the testnet launched on time.” You are not buying “ETFs are accumulating again” or “institutions are FOMOing in.”
Compared with BTC, ETH has shown weaker elasticity over the past month. Compared with the 2025 high, it still has a long way to go. Your ETH is not dead, but it is not the main character right now.
The brutal truth:
ETH is not incapable—it simply has no one funding it right now.
Third: The candlesticks tell you that $2,710 is a crossroads.
The path is crystal clear: $2,635-$2,750 back and forth in late September, a high of $2,779 on October 2, a low of $2,651 on October 3, $2,700 yesterday, and $2,710 today.
Key levels:
Above:
$2,730-$2,750: supply zone over the past two days
$2,770-$2,800: ceiling over the past two weeks + dense liquidation zone
Only a daily close above $2,770 would put $2,900-$3,000 into discussion
Only a weekly close above $2,800 would prompt talk of $3,400—that is for later
Below:
$2,680: today’s low
$2,650: the October 3 and late-September low zone, which bulls must defend
$2,610-$2,630: lower liquidation zone
Further down: $2,440-$2,480
The daily moving averages remain in a bullish alignment, but upper wicks keep appearing between $2,680 and $2,770, with lower volume than in late September. $2,710 is stuck in the middle of the range. Holding $2,680 allows another test of $2,740; a daily close below $2,640 means treating it as a short-term pullback.
You decide the bull-bear battle
On one side:
Glamsterdam’s testnet launched on schedule, marking a major protocol upgrade
Daily moving averages are in a bullish alignment, and the medium-term structure remains intact
Up 8% in 30 days, with the $2,635-$2,780 range repeatedly holding
Cumulative ETF net inflows remain at $13.8 billion
On the other side:
ETFs have seen outflows for five straight days, with approximately $200 million flowing out this week
BTC failed to break $87,000 twice, while Monday’s ETF outflow was $90 million
Weak employment is suppressing rate-hike expectations, while the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield is at 5.25%
$2,770-$2,800 has failed three times, with volume shrinking
Macro: If BTC is unstable, ETH drops first.
On Tuesday, BTC was at the $86,000 midpoint and failed to break $87,000 twice. ETH’s beta is higher than BTC’s—if the broader market is stable, it can grind between $2,650 and $2,780; if BTC breaks below $84,500, ETH will first drop to $2,640.
The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield remains around 5.25%, while weak employment continues to weigh on the probability of an October rate hike. If liquidity does not give you a break, the technicals have to bow.
Trading strategy (no filler)
Aggressive:
Try a small long position around $2,710, with a stop-loss at $2,645. First target: $2,740; second target: $2,770. Take half off at $2,730.
Conservative:
Wait for $2,650-$2,670 before considering an entry, with a stop-loss at $2,610. An even better zone is $2,580-$2,620. If it does not reach that level, use a small position.
Breakout:
Only consider chasing after a high-volume break and hold above $2,780, followed by a retest that holds $2,730. Target: $2,900. Abandon it immediately if it is a false breakout.
Shorts:
If the move to $2,750-$2,780 loses momentum, consider a small short on the pullback, with a stop-loss at $2,810 and targets of $2,680 and $2,650. Do not stubbornly short around $2,640.
Position sizing: Risk no more than 2% of total capital per trade, with 3-5x leverage.
Risk-control priority (memorize this):
A daily close below $2,640 means reducing exposure, with the next levels at $2,580 and $2,480.
If ETFs continue to see net outflows this week, $2,710 will likely fail.
If BTC breaks below $84,500, reduce ETH leverage first.
ETH at $2,710 is in the same range as yesterday; the only addition is that Sepolia opened on schedule.
What you can still do is defend the $2,650-$2,780 range, not go all-in for $3,000.
You hope every day that ETH breaks $3,000, but it has not even cleared $2,770. ETH is not failing to rise—you are fooling yourself inside the range.
Watch two things: whether $2,770 can be cleared, and whether ETF outflows stop this week.
