You think he's just bearish? Wrong, he's already sold everything off.

Wu said the blockchain explosion: Arthur Hayes's Maelstrom fund has liquidated HYPE, NEAR, WLD, ZEC. Only BTC and ETH remain in his hands, and he may have already opened derivative short positions.

And then? The three straw that broke the market in his previous article "Reality Test"—

Oil prices surged

AI super IPO drained liquidity

Trump's anti-AI regulation

One by one, all came true.

The NASDAQ dropped over 3.5 overnight, BTC fell below 61k. Hayes's predictions seem like they came from the future.

But the community exploded. ZachXBT previously accused him of "serially liquidating to cut fans." What does that mean?

It means he first publicly calls a short, writes a long analysis of macro risks, creating panic. Fans see that the big shot is bearish, so they rush to sell. Meanwhile, he quietly liquidates altcoins, and may even reverse and open shorts.

This is called "using narrative to serve positions."

"The highest level of a prophet is not predicting the market accurately, but predicting that you will believe his prediction, and then he profits from you."

Think about it, if he was really just bearish, why not just say in his article, "I've already liquidated"? Why not tell fans, "I'm shorting"?

Because once he does, you won't believe him. You'll think: oh, he's just shorting for his own positions.

So he only provides logic, not positions. The stronger the logic, the more people believe, and the market follows his script — then he profits more from his positions.

This is called a "self-fulfilling prophecy," also known as "legitimate manipulation."

So is he truly a macro genius, or a top-tier scythe?

The answer is: both are not contradictory.

His triple pressure theory indeed withstands scrutiny: the US-Iran conflict pushing up oil prices, the AI bubble burst by SemiAnalysis report, Trump's shift in attitude toward AI — none of these are fabricated. He just tells the right ghost stories to the right people at the right time.

But the problem is, after telling the story, the first to run is himself.

If he's truly a long-term bear, why still hold BTC and ETH? Why not liquidate everything? Because he knows only these two will survive in the end. Altcoins are just used to throw to fans before the narrative collapses.

"He uses macro analysis to gain fame, profits from derivative shorts in USD, and takes in fans' panic to buy altcoins — earning from three angles."

So what should retail investors do?

First, stop blindly trusting any KOL's "pure logic." Every long article might have positions behind it. You can listen to his analysis, but don't blindly follow his conclusions to operate.

Second, Hayes kept BTC and ETH, liquidated altcoins — this move alone is more worth referencing than any of his articles.

Tonight at 8:30, CPI data release

Gold dips below $4,200, hitting a three-month low.

The US and Iran are at war, missiles are flying, yet gold is falling.

Do you think this is normal?

Not normal. But in the face of “inflation,” even world wars have to line up.

At 8:30 tonight, the US will release its May CPI data. This is the final trump card before the June 16-17 FOMC meeting.

According to TD Securities’ forecast: the overall CPI year-over-year rate is 4.2%, compared with the prior value of 3.4%. Core CPI is 2.8%.

70% of economists say: don’t expect rate cuts this year.

Goldman Sachs is even harsher: rate cuts pushed out to 2027, with the probability of rate hikes raised to 20%.

In the past, when CPI was higher, everyone still hoped it was “temporary.” What about now? The US-Iran conflict is escalating, oil prices are approaching 95, and the Strait of Hormuz is a sword hanging overhead—every fuse for input-driven inflation has been lit.

If tonight’s CPI really reaches 4.2%, then rate hikes won’t be a mere “expectation”—they’ll be a countdown.

BTC just caught its breath near 61k, and the Nasdaq is down 3.5% and hasn’t recovered yet. Is this the bottom? Is this the calm before the storm?

“CPI data isn’t news—it’s Judgment Day.”

So the question is—before and after the CPI data, how exactly should you act?

I’ll tell you my approach directly:

First, 4 hours before the data is released, cut your position to below 50%.

Don’t tell me about “long-term holding.” If CPI comes in above expectations, one sharp sell-off can wipe out months of your profits. You can be bullish on BTC, but don’t go all-in long on the night before CPI.

Second, don’t actively play the game—only react passively.

Once the data comes out: if it’s higher than 4%, wait until the dip has fully played out before considering entry; don’t chase after the first spike. If it’s below 3.5%, that’s an unexpected bonus—there’s still plenty of time to buy.

Why don’t I recommend you “hold your position”?

Because this time is different.

Gold has already shown you: geopolitical conflicts can’t move safe-haven assets—because the market recognizes only one logic—inflation → tightening → a stronger dollar → risk assets die.

Holding your position means handing your fate to a number. And you won’t know that number even a second in advance.

Why don’t I recommend you “actively short”?

Because if CPI comes in below expectations, shorts can get blown up into fireworks in an instant.

The steadiest move is to reduce your position, hold your U firmly, and watch the show.

Wait until market sentiment has fully washed through, wait for the first hour of big swings, then make a calm judgment.

Iran attacks U.S. troops, but gold drops below 4200? Do you dare to believe this “safe haven” joke?

As the war escalates, gold plunges.

Iranian drones shoot down a U.S. Apache, the U.S. bombs Iran’s air defense system, and Iran retaliates against the U.S. Fifth Fleet—the Middle East powder keg is already smoking.

Guess how gold will move?

Down. Breaking below $4,200, hitting a nearly three-month low.

Isn’t it supposed to buy gold during geopolitical conflicts? Isn’t gold a safe haven in chaotic times? Why did gold fall when missiles are flying?

Because the market’s only thought now is: inflation.

More frightening than Iran is the CPI. More unsettling for Wall Street than an Apache being shot down is whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates again tomorrow.

When the “tightening expectations” brought by CPI data overshadow everything, and real interest rates soar to make non-yielding assets like gold a hot potato—forget about Middle Eastern wars, even if aliens arrive, gold will still fall.

“Before, ‘the sound of cannons meant gold would multiply’; now it’s ‘inflation sounds, gold just rises and falls’.”

Look at Bitcoin again. On the same day, BTC briefly dropped below 61k. The Nasdaq fell over 3.5%. All “safe assets” and “risk assets” collapsed across the board. Why? Because the market is doing one thing: selling everything to buy dollars.

Geopolitical conflicts? No longer important. What matters is—the Fed tightening, money getting more expensive, who still holds zero-yield assets?

This abnormal signal reveals a harsh truth:

Gold’s geopolitical safe-haven attribute has been strangled by macro liquidity.

In the past two years, gold rose because everyone bet on the Fed cutting rates. Now, with rate cut expectations shattered by CPI data, even if World War III breaks out, institutions will first liquidate their gold positions to cover margin calls.

What’s even more painful:

The market treats geopolitical conflicts as “background noise,” but sees CPI data as a “survival threat.”

So now you see the most absurd scene: Iran and the U.S. are fighting fiercely in the Strait of Hormuz, yet gold hits a three-month low.

What should you do?

Stop using 20th-century thinking like “buy gold when there’s war” in your trading. The only truth in the 2024 market is: cash is king until inflation data bows down.

“When gold turns deaf to war, you should know—the market is no longer afraid of #Gate直通IPO认购SpaceX missiles, only the Fed.”

SpaceX Raises More Than 4 Times as Much—But Optical Modules Crash Overnight

—Can your AI positions still hold up?

On one side, the IPO frenzy is so intense it breaks heads; on the other, the industry chain is bleeding out.

Last night, the U.S. stock market put on a split-screen drama.

First, the good news: SpaceX’s IPO subscription demand exceeded $250 billion, while its fundraising target was only $75 billion—4x oversubscribed. OpenAI secretly filed paperwork, and Anthropic raised $35 billion. The three major AI giants lined up to go public, and the primary market went absolutely wild.

Now, the bad news: the optical module sector collapsed across the board. Marvell fell 15%, AAOI dropped 16%, Coherent slid 15%, and AMD fell 10%. The Nasdaq plunged 3.5%, and $2 trillion in market value vanished overnight.

Why? A SemiAnalysis report: Nvidia’s 800VDC power architecture was delayed, and CPO (co-packaged optics) commercialization has been pushed back. Overnight, the technical roadmap was repriced.

Reconstructing the scenario:

Last week, you were still bragging in the group about “the AI revolution—compute power is king,” holding a bunch of AI concept stocks and Bitcoin, happily waiting for them to double.

Today at the open: optical modules were cut in half, the Nasdaq crashed, and BTC shuddered too.

You open your account—on the left, your AI stocks are green enough to make you panic; on the right, your crypto assets are also wobbling. You’re completely stunned: what should I do—buy the dip, or run?

This split-market move reveals a harsh truth:

The frenzy in the primary market and the collapse in the secondary market aren’t contradictions. They’re two sides of the same coin.

The primary market is buying “future stories”—headline names like SpaceX and OpenAI, where imagination and narrative alone can pull in huge capital. But the secondary market can’t wait anymore. It wants technology that can land now, orders that can be shipped, and profits that can actually be made.

If CPO is delayed by a year, then the optical module’s performance will have to be pushed back by a year too. The stock price drops first to show respect.

“Primary market pays for dreams, secondary market pays for delays—the worst off are retail investors who think they’re betting on both sides, only to get hit from both ends.”

If you hold both AI concept stocks and crypto assets at the same time, what should you do?

My advice: dismantle your “double leverage.”

AI concept stocks and crypto assets look unrelated on the surface, but in reality they share the same fragile weakness: liquidity sensitivity.

Nasdaq crashes → risk appetite shrinks → BTC takes pressure as well. This isn’t a coincidence; it’s a script repeatedly validated since 2024.

If you hold both right now, it’s like placing two bets on the same “macro negative” headline. Once CPI comes in hotter than expected and the Federal Reserve turns hawkish, both sides dive together—and you don’t even have room to hedge.

Specific execution ideas:

Trim positions in high-flying AI concept stocks, especially those supported purely by “delayed narratives,” such as optical modules and power equipment. Technical delays aren’t small issues. Institutions will revalue—don’t catch a falling knife.

Keep crypto assets, but reduce leverage. The correlation between BTC and the Nasdaq in this round is declining. If an AI crash causes funds to flow out of U.S. stocks, some of that money could flow into crypto as a hedge—this is the only logic that could let you experience a “blessing in disguise.”

Use part of your position to go long on “primary market sentiment”—for example, by participating in SpaceX-style targets through private funds or pre-IPO shares (if you can get them). What big institutions are rushing for won’t cool down in the near term.

Attention, the SemiAnalysis report on optical modules is expected to cause a major stir within 48 hours.
This report titled "Powered Down, Lights Off. 800VDC Pushout and CPO Delays" provides a reason for the severe decline in today’s CPO sector stocks.
A quick quantum read, summarized in one sentence: the market is overly optimistic about 800VDC and CPO, with current yield and integration issues being quite serious.
This has led to NVIDIA’s original push for large-scale adoption of 800VDC being delayed until at least 2028-2029, and in the current Rubin architecture, 800VDC is not essential.
If CPO volume growth is pushed to at least 2028, it benefits copper interconnects (AEC) and pluggable optical module suppliers, reversing the trend of optical advancing at the expense of copper.
These two sectors will continue to outperform within the next two years.
