TRUMP at $2.40—would you dare buy the dip?
First, the surface picture: after a surge, it is consolidating at elevated levels, leaving retail traders conflicted.
On August 22, it saw extreme single-day volatility: opening at 1.87, surging to a high of 3.68, and closing at 2.44. It then tested 3.0 multiple times, only to be beaten back each time. Today it is at 2.40, down 6%-8%, slightly below the midpoint of the high-level consolidation range. 3.0-3.7 is a clear supply wall, while 2.28 below is the critical lifeline level.
First: explosive pumps rely on sentiment, but realizing profits relies on the team.
The White House Crypto Summit, combined with a recovery in risk appetite, ignited this surge from 1.4 to 3.68. Eric Trump just denied the rumor of "launching a new coin," calling it a scam—but the rumor itself is the best fuel.
During the rally, affiliated wallets realized approximately $3.39 million through liquidity operations, while another 2.62 million tokens (approximately $6.21 million) were transferred to OK.
You think it is a "political faith" rally, while they see it as "liquidity management."
Second: the supply structure is the biggest risk for this coin.
The total supply is 1 billion tokens, with approximately 251 million in circulation. Trump-affiliated entities (CIC Digital and others) still control most of the tokens and are unlocking them in batches as scheduled. Around mid-September, another release of approximately 28.7 million tokens is expected.
Third: technically, it has reached an "awkward middle" position.
The daily structure has risen from 1.37, and the 30-day gain remains 60%-75%; the medium-term structure has not completely broken down. But 3.0-3.7 is a clear supply zone, and every one of the bulls' four attempts to move higher was beaten back. Volume was extremely high on rally days but contracted significantly after the pullback—chasing money is retreating, not continuously accumulating.
Only after reclaiming 2.94 with increased volume will it qualify to challenge 3.6
You can judge the bull-bear battle yourself
On one side:
The White House Crypto Summit + political attention remain, giving the meme coin a narrative premium
It has risen from 1.37 and formed higher lows; the mid-term structure remains intact
Futures trading volume is huge, and short-term speculative capital is active
The 2.28-2.32 support has held multiple times
On the other side:
The team realized nearly $10 million amid the rally, and internal selling pressure genuinely exists
An expected unlock of approximately 28.7 million tokens in mid-September means supply pressure is on the way
Two-thirds of wallets remain at a loss, creating selling pressure on rebounds
A Public Citizen report said related products have left investors with at least $4.7 billion in unrealized losses
California is considering legislation to prohibit public officials from issuing meme coins, creating regulatory uncertainty
Upside resistance: 2.52-2.60 → 2.72-2.94 → 3.05-3.20 → 3.60-3.68
Downside support: 2.28-2.32 (strong support) → 2.11-2.17 → 2.00
Trading strategy
Plan A:
Wait for a high-volume move above 2.58-2.62 followed by a pullback that holds, then cautiously take a small long position, targeting 2.85-2.95, with a stop-loss below 2.38. Do not chase the rebound after the slow decline at 2.40 unless volume picks up again and the 1-hour chart turns upward.
Plan B:
Treat 2.28-2.95 as the range. Only take a short-term long near 2.28-2.32 if volume contracts, selling pressure eases, and a lower wick appears, targeting 2.52/2.72, and reduce the position at 2.85-2.95. If a rebound to 2.72-2.94 lacks follow-through in volume and forms a long upper wick, reduce longs or take a small short position, targeting a return to 2.50-2.40.
Plan C:
A decisive daily close below 2.28 signals short-term weakness; exit or reverse to target 2.15-2.00. Only after a high-volume recovery and sustained hold above 2.94 should the target be raised to 3.20-3.40.
Do not use "Trump will tweet" as a reason to open a position—his tweet can drive it up 20%, while the team's token transfers can also crash it 15%
The upside catalysts (the summit, rumors, and a short squeeze) have already played out once. Profit-taking, unlocks, regulation, and trapped holders remain. The macro environment also does not support unlimited leverage on meme coins.
There are only two situations in which I would be more aggressive: stabilization near 2.28 with BTC strengthening in tandem, or a renewed high-volume breakout above 2.94.
TRUMP is not an investment but a game of speculation—
99% of people treat it as "political faith," but remember: the team is selling, unlocks are on the way, and trapped holders are waiting to exit on a rebound. You are rushing in for faith, while they are rushing in for liquidity.
"The biggest illusion of political memes is—you think you are betting on the future, but in reality you are providing exit liquidity for insiders."
What is your TRUMP cost basis?
At 2.40, would you dare buy the dip or wait for lower prices?
