If the Fed really plans to continue raising rates, lifting them from 3.75 to 4, and the actual figure meets expectations at exactly 4, the market will already be psychologically prepared. It usually will not surge or plunge directly in one direction, but is more likely to see violent wicks in both directions. The subsequent trend will mainly depend on the chair’s speech: if it signals further rate hikes, prices will fall; if it suggests that this round of hikes is nearly complete, prices will rise.
