Gate announced a major upgrade to its stock trading service, becoming the industry’s first exchange to achieve zero trading fees for US stocks and ETFs. After the upgrade, qualifying buy and sell orders for US stocks and ETFs will not incur Gate’s platform trading commission, with no minimum trading commission, account opening fee, or account maintenance fee—further reducing users’ costs to participate in the US stock market and optimizing the global asset trading experience.
In addition to platform trading commissions, fees users may incur during trading mainly include US market-related settlement fees, regulatory fees, and third-party costs such as American Depositary Receipt (ADR) custody fees. The above fees are executed according to the rules of the regulators, clearing institutions, and custodian banks, and are borne by users based on actual executed trades.
Among them, the settlement fee applies to stock buy and sell transactions, with a fee standard of $0.003 per share, capped at no more than 0.05% of the transaction value. The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) fees and TAF (Transaction Activity Fee) are charged only when selling stocks; they are calculated as 20.6 per million of the principal amount sold (waived for each sell order where the amount is < $500) and $0.000195 per share (waived for selling ≤ 50 shares; each order is capped at a maximum of $9.79). The CAT (Consolidated Audit Trail) fee applies to stock buy and sell transactions, with a rate of $0.000003 per share. For American Depositary Receipt (ADR) assets, the ADR issuer or custodian bank may charge custody fees based on actual rules, typically about $0.01–$0.03 per share, subject to the specific rules of the underlying assets. In addition, after the zero-fee upgrade, US stock trades will no longer count toward VIP total trading volume.
Currently, Gate stocks have formed a 7x24 trading service system covering three major core markets: US stocks, Hong Kong stocks, and Korean stocks, supporting over 10,000 US stocks and ETFs, 1,500+ Hong Kong stocks, and 1,000+ Korean stocks, for a total coverage of more than 12,500 stocks and ETF assets globally. The platform offers
fractional-share trading starting from 0.01 share, stock dividend entitlements, and supports corporate action services such as cross-broker share transfers for US and Hong Kong stocks, as well as stock splits and reverse splits, continuously improving the stock investment service experience.
This adjustment to stock trading fee rates is an important step in Gate’s ongoing effort to完善 (improve and refine) its global asset trading system. By rolling out a zero-fee model, Gate reduces the cost for users to participate in the stock market, enabling more users to invest in global capital markets in a more flexible and efficient way.
