I Got “Limit Order” and “Market Order” Mixed Up
On my third day after registering on Gate last year, I decided to make a serious trade. After studying the candlestick charts all night, I felt Bitcoin had reached a support level and prepared to place a buy order.
I carefully set the price, quantity, take-profit, and stop-loss levels, then confidently clicked “Submit.” Ten minutes later, I noticed that the money in my account had decreased, but my coins hadn’t increased. I took a closer look—and realized I had placed a limit sell order.

Day three, still no win. I made four trades in total: three losses and one win (the winning trade only earned 1 USDT, which was nowhere near enough to make up for the losses).
But my mindset was better today than over the previous two days because I accepted that “event contracts are essentially a high-probability losing game.”
I found that if I just look at the chart and make random guesses, the win rate is only about 40%.
To make money, I have to wait for “high-certainty” opportunities, such as major news or a breakout of a key level.
