Of all the things Wall Street could borrow from crypto, perpetual futures wouldn't have been my first choice.
The CFTC cleared eligible US exchanges to offer them on individual stocks today.
I understand the appeal for traders. No expiry dates, flexible exposure and useful hedging opportunities.
But they also bring funding costs, leverage and liquidation risks.
More trading options are welcome. I'm less convinced that more leverage is what stock investors were missing.
