The August Nonfarm Payrolls report is due this morning and it is the single most important data point for markets, the Federal Reserve, and anyone running a business right now. We are getting it on the first Friday of September, and after a summer of mixed signals the labor market is where the entire narrative pivots. Inflation has cooled. Growth is slowing but not collapsing. Now the question is whether hiring is also normalizing in an orderly way or if cracks are starting to show.

The data looks odd: $$USELESS 24-hour amplitude of 91%, rising from 0.1504 to 0.2879 before crashing back to 0.2625, with $870 million in trading volume. This kind of parabolic move either means someone is precisely controlling the market or the news was leaked in advance.

Here's how it got there.
Indian expats poured $127 billion into Indian banks this summer, under a special RBI scheme built specifically to attract that money.
Banks took those dollars and swapped them for rupees with the RBI. That swap is what created the short position.
