A modder reverse-engineered the Walkman’s wireless firmware transmission and reception chain, adding an ESP-NOW action-frame hook interface and native C API. In the demo, the Walkman and ESP-Mosaico used ESP-NOW to render an aquarium scene in sync.
A 2009 Walkman was fitted with ESP-NOW, and the final demo showed two devices rendering a fish tank in sync—all without removing the original Marvell chip. The old machine has a new trick, but syncing a fish tank feels a bit like using a flagship Walkman as an IoT node.
