Looking at the candlesticks alone, gold does indeed look very much like it is forming a head-and-shoulders top. But I don't think we can look only at the pattern; trading volume can also help with the assessment.
Normally, in a head-and-shoulders top, trading volume on the right shoulder is usually lower than on the left shoulder.
