#Gate广场万圣节 Iranian FM: Strait of Hormuz “will not be the same as before”; the outcome will be the same if the US launches another war
Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, October 25 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said on the 25th that following the US and Israel’s war against Iran, “fundamental and strategically significant” changes had taken place in the region, and the management of the Strait of Hormuz and its shipping routes “will no longer be the same as before.”
Speaking at a ceremony in Tehran that day, Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz had remained open for decades. Iran and Oman, as coastal countries, had always worked to ensure the strait’s security and had never imposed any obstacles on traffic through it.
But the US-Israeli war against Iran “changed everything”: shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be as they were, and the way the strait is managed has also changed.
He said Iran’s national policy would not change, regardless of whether a new round of attacks against Iran takes place. “If the other side still has any sense, it will not try to launch new military attacks or commit aggression against the Iranian people.” Araghchi said regional security should be ensured by countries in the region, and Iran and other regional countries must coexist peacefully without interference from outside powers. This is the only way to achieve regional peace, security and stability.
He said Iran was willing to cooperate with all countries in the region, especially those along the Persian Gulf.
