Ethereum and Base are taking different roads on account abstraction, and I think the important part is not the word “split” — it is why the two sides are choosing different designs.
The joint effort around account abstraction has broken down, with Ethereum moving forward with EIP-8141, Frame Transactions, while Base is pursuing EIP-8130, Keystore Accounts. Both proposals are still drafts, so this is not a final protocol-level separation. But the direction is becoming much clearer.

I handled this short position in two stages. The key was not trying to call the top, but waiting for the rebound to fail.
