I still have an old crypto wallet I haven't touched in years.
Sometimes I open it just to look at the transaction history.
There are coins there that I completely forgot about.
Some went nowhere.
Some disappeared from the market.
And one of them makes me think:
“What if I had just held this?”
Then I remember something.
Back then, I didn't know what I know today.
And I definitely didn't have the patience I have today.
It's easy to look at an old chart and imagine yourself becoming rich.
But you forget all the fear, uncertainty and temptation that happened between those two prices.
Maybe that's

I remember having $100 in my wallet and thinking:
“How hard can it be to turn this into $1,000?”
That thought was dangerous.
Because after making a little profit, $1,000 didn't feel enough anymore.
Then I wanted $5,000.
Then $10,000.
Every target created another target.
At some point, I wasn't asking:
“How much can I afford to lose?”
I was only asking:
“How much can I make?”
That's probably one of the easiest ways to lose perspective in crypto.
The market didn't change me.
My expectations did.
Now when I invest, I try to remember the person I was before I saw my first big profit.

A few months ago, my mother asked me:
“Where did all the money you were saving go?”
I didn't know what to say.
I couldn't exactly say,
“It's in a coin that's down 70%.” 😅
So I just smiled and changed the topic.
That's when I realized crypto had gone too far into my life.
I started with a small investment because I wanted to make some extra money.
One profitable trade made me confident.
Confidence turned into greed.
Greed turned into bigger investments.
And eventually, my savings were sitting on a chart that could turn red overnight.
I still believe crypto can create opportunities.

The weirdest thing about losing money in crypto isn't seeing the red portfolio.
It's pretending everything is normal while your brain is doing calculations all day.
You're having dinner...
but thinking about BTC.
You're talking to someone...
but thinking about that altcoin.
You're trying to sleep...
and suddenly:
“If BTC goes back to that price, I'll recover 63% of my loss.”
Then you open the chart again. 😂
I eventually realized that money wasn't the only thing crypto was taking from me.
It was taking my peace.
I'm still interested in crypto.

I have a funny habit now.
When my portfolio is green, I check it 20 times a day.
When it's deep red, I suddenly become very good at ignoring notifications. 😂
No screenshots.
No sharing.
No checking the total.
Just:
“Let's see what happens next month.”
But honestly, that's probably how most of us behave.
We love talking about profits.
We don't talk much about the coin we bought at the top.
The project that disappeared.
The trade we regret.
The money we should have taken out.
I've made all of those mistakes.
And I'm slowly realizing that being a good investor isn't about never losing.

My biggest crypto mistake wasn't buying the wrong coin.
It was increasing my position after it went up.
I bought at $10.
It went to $20.
I felt like a genius.
So I bought more.
Then it went to $30.
I bought even more.
At $40, I was already mentally spending money I hadn't made.
Then it went back to $20.
I thought:
“No problem. It will recover.”
Then $15.
Then $10.
Then below my original entry.
That's when I learned something simple:
A rising price can make you feel smarter than you actually are.
Sometimes the market doesn't reward confidence.
It punishes it.
Still learning.

Bull market me was a completely different person.
I used to look at my portfolio and think:
“Why am I even worried about money?”
Every coin was pumping.
Every project looked promising.
Every dip looked like a buying opportunity.
I started thinking I had finally understood the market.
Then the market reminded me who was actually in control.
My portfolio went down.
Then down again.
And again.
Suddenly those “easy 10x opportunities” didn't look so easy anymore.
Looking back, I wasn't a great investor during the bull market.
I was just lucky enough to be in a rising market.

There was a time when I didn't need much to feel happy.
A normal day, some food, friends, family, and a little money saved for the future.
Then crypto happened.
One phone was enough to carry my entire financial life.
Wake up → check portfolio.
Eating → check portfolio.
Before sleeping → check portfolio.
Wake up at 3 AM → somehow check portfolio again. 😂
The strange part is, my money wasn't moving much.

There were days when I wanted to sell everything and forget about crypto forever.
But after losing money, I realized something:
I can't change the past.
I can't recover losses by making emotional decisions.
And I definitely can't force the market to go up.
So now, I'm trying to focus on learning, managing risk, and rebuilding slowly.
I don't know when my portfolio will recover.
I don't even know if every project I invested in will survive.

A few months later, I took another screenshot.
This time, my portfolio was deep in the red.

Funny how we love sharing our profits but stay silent about our losses.
Crypto has taught me that behind every green portfolio screenshot, there might be a story nobody knows.
Some people are celebrating.
Some people are waiting for a recovery.

Then I discovered crypto.
At first, I invested a small amount. I made some profit, and suddenly I started believing that I could make money much faster.
My savings slowly turned into investments.
My emergency fund became “capital.”
Even money I needed for other things started looking like an opportunity.
The worst part? Every time the market went down, I told myself I was investing for the long term.
But deep down, I was just hoping to get my money back.

I stopped checking my portfolio for a while. 😂
At one point, I was checking charts more often than checking my messages.

Every red candle ruined my mood.
I started with the dream of financial freedom, but ended up learning how emotional investing can be.
Now I understand that sometimes the best trade is simply not making a trade.

Sometimes I think the hardest part of crypto is not buying at the wrong time, but knowing when to sell.
In 2021, I bought some coins and watched my portfolio grow. I was happy. I thought I had finally figured out how crypto works.
But instead of taking profit, I kept holding. My mindset was simple: “It will go higher.”
Then the market turned red.
The profit disappeared. Then my initial investment started disappearing too.
I kept telling myself, “Just wait. The market will recover.”
Years passed, and I learned a painful lesson:
Unrealized profit is not life-changing money.
