BTC & ETH: Today’s Options Expiry Puts $64K and $1,900 in Focus
Crypto is entering an important volatility window today as around $1.48B in BTC and ETH options expire. Deribit-reported data puts approximately $1.3B of BTC options and $180M of ETH options into expiry, with reported max-pain levels near $64,000 for BTC and $1,900 for ETH. Max pain is not a guaranteed target, but it can become an important reference around concentrated derivatives positioning.
At the latest market levels available today, BTC is around $62.6K–$62.9K, while ETH is around $1.87K. Bitcoin has slipped below $63K, while Ethereum has struggled to reclaim the $1,900 area.
BTC setup
Current: ~$62.6K–$62.9K
Support: $62K → $60K → $58.5K
Resistance: $63K → $64K → $65K → $66.7K
BTC is currently trading below the important $64K decision zone. A recovery above $63K would be the first sign that buyers are trying to regain control.
The stronger bullish confirmation would come from a clean reclaim of $64K, followed by acceptance above that level. If BTC can then break $65K with stronger spot participation, the next area to watch would be around $66K–$66.7K.
On the downside, losing $62K would weaken the short-term structure. A decisive move below that area could bring $60K into focus, with deeper support around the recent 2026 lows.
Recent reporting also shows that BTC has been pressured by weak spot demand and consecutive U.S. spot ETF outflows, making volume confirmation especially important for any attempted recovery.
ETH setup
Current: ~$1.87K
Support: $1,850 → $1,800 → $1,750
Resistance: $1,900 → $1,950 → $2,000
ETH remains below the psychologically important $1,900 level, which also coincides with the reported options max-pain level.
A sustained reclaim of $1,900 would improve the short-term structure and put $1,950 back into focus. Above that, $2,000 becomes the major psychological resistance.
If ETH loses $1,850, sellers could target $1,800. A deeper breakdown would shift attention toward $1,750. Current market reporting also identifies $1,850 as an important support zone after ETH's rejection near $1,900.
The key signal
The expiry itself is not the trade signal.
The more important question is what happens after the derivatives event.
I would watch:
Price + spot volume + open interest + funding + liquidity + ETF flows
If BTC reclaims $64K while ETH holds above $1,900 with improving spot activity, that would provide stronger evidence of a genuine risk-on move.
If BTC remains below $63K and ETH loses $1,850, the market structure becomes considerably weaker.
For now, the map is simple:
BTC: $64K is the main upside decision level; $62K is the immediate downside line.
ETH: $1,900 is the key reclaim level; $1,850 is the critical near-term support.
Max pain can influence short-term positioning, but it does not dictate where the market must close. Once expiry-related flows fade, real spot demand will determine whether BTC and ETH can build a sustainable move.
