#WCTCS9 #广场交易达人 Gold bulls and bears battle; crude oil consolidates and recovers
Spot gold: Gold formed a volatile pattern this week, rebounding from its lows before rallying and then pulling back. The weekly candle had a long upper wick, showing that buying support remains at lower levels, while selling pressure overhead is also significant.
Spot gold is currently consolidating near $4,070/oz. After dipping to around 4,029 intraday on Friday, it rebounded, with bulls and bears locked in a short-term tug-of-war.
Gold remains driven in the short term by interest rate expectations and the dollar's movement. U.S. October nonfarm payrolls came in stronger than expected, lifting market expectations for a Fed rate hike in December and putting some pressure on gold prices. However, safe-haven sentiment after the midterm elections, continued central bank gold purchases, and ETF inflows are providing a floor for prices. Goldman Sachs recently lowered its year-end gold price target, also reflecting institutional caution about near-term upside.
At next week's open, watch whether prices can stabilize around 4,080–4,100. If prices move back above 4,080–4,100, the short-term rebound may continue, with resistance at 4,107 and then 4,146. If prices fall below 4,040 and 4,025, they may retest the 4,000 level.
WTI Crude Oil
WTI crude oil closed at $90.33 per barrel on Friday, while Brent closed at $98.32 per barrel. Both fell more than 12% for the week, mainly as expectations of easing U.S.-Iran tensions drove a rapid unwinding of geopolitical risk premiums. However, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has yet to fully recover, while low inventories and OPEC+ production cuts continue to provide support, so oil prices may remain highly volatile in the short term. WTI resistance is at 92–95, with support at 89–87; Brent resistance is at 100, with support at 94–93.
