#GateGuardNowAvailableForFree
Free is the headline. Free is not the story. The story is the 30-day wait, and the line between protection and insurance.
Guard is now available free of charge for eligible users. That sounds like "turn it on and you are covered." It is not. Guard is an account protection plan. It covers direct losses from unauthorized transfers out of your account. It is not insurance. It does not promise reimbursement for every loss. It has a hardening period. If you miss that part, free means nothing.
Here is how I read it, focused only on Guard.
What Guard covers
Guard covers direct losses when assets leave your account without your authorization — for example, theft or hacking that leads to an unauthorized transfer.
Key word: direct. If someone gets in and moves funds out without your approval, that is the core case Guard is built for.
Key word: eligible. You can apply for reimbursement for eligible direct losses. Not every loss qualifies. Not every move counts. The plan supplements daily security steps. It does not replace them.
What Guard does NOT cover
Guard is not an insurance product. It does not form an insurance contract. It does not promise reimbursement as a right.
That line matters. Insurance pays by contract. Guard pays by plan rules, after review, for qualifying cases.
It also does not cover losses from your own approved moves. If you approved a transfer, clicked a bad link and confirmed it, or shared a code, that is a different story. Guard is about unauthorized moves, not about undoing your own clicks.
Free activation does not erase that line. Free only removes the fee. It does not widen the cover.
How you qualify and why most people fail here
To activate, you need all of these at once:
1. Security score of 80 or above
2. Level 2 identity verification completed
3. Required security verifications done 4. Normal account status
Score 80 is the gate. Most users sit below it because they skip one verification, use a weak setup, or leave one step half-done. Guard rewards the users who already hardened their account. It does not rescue the users who did not.
This is the part people miss: Guard is free, but it is not for everyone. It is for eligible users who already meet the bar.
The 30-day trap the most important part
After activation, Guard enters a Security Hardening Period. Protection is NOT yet active.
Protection starts only after your security score stays at 80 or above for 30 consecutive days, and related conditions are met.
Read that twice. You can activate today and still have zero cover for 30 days.
If your score dips to 79 on day 27, the clock resets. If you turn off a verification, change a setting, or let a step lapse, you break the streak.
That is why I call it a trap: people activate, feel safe, and relax. The plan needs the opposite. The 30 days after activation are the days you must be most strict.
My activation checklist for Guard
I do not treat Guard as "set and forget." I treat it as a 30-day discipline.
Step one before activation: Get score to 80 and keep it there for a few days first. Do not activate on a spike. Activate on a stable score. Complete Level 2 identity verification and all required security checks before you tap activate.
Step two day 1 to day 30: Check score daily. Do not change security settings unless you must. Do not skip a verification. Treat any dip below 80 as a reset, not a small slip.
Step three after day 30: Only now treat Guard as active. Even then, keep score at 80+. If score falls after protection starts, you risk losing cover for a future event. Guard is not a one-time badge. It is a standing condition.
What would make me trust Guard more:
• Score holding at 80+ for 30 days straight, with no dip;
• All verifications staying green;
• Clear record of what counts as a qualifying unauthorized transfer.
What would make me pause:
• Activating while score is bouncing around 78-82;
• Thinking free means instant cover
• Thinking Guard replaces strong passwords, device checks, and careful clicks.
Guard, used right, is a useful extra layer: free to activate, focused on unauthorized transfers, with a clear 80+ score rule and a 30-day hardening wait.
Guard, used wrong, is a false sense of safety: activated, but not yet active, with score below the line.
Activate it. Then earn the 30 days.
