‍Taiwan Stocks Are Now Part of the USDT Trading Conversation

Access to a stock market is one thing. Understanding what actually drives the companies inside it is something else.

The latest addition of 19 Taiwan-listed stocks to Gate's USDT trading lineup is interesting because Taiwan is not just another regional equity market. It sits at the centre of the global technology supply chain, particularly in semiconductors, AI infrastructure and electronics manufacturing.

For traders who follow the technology sector, this creates a new way to gain exposure to some important businesses. But easier access should never be confused with lower investment risk.

Taiwan's Biggest Advantage Is Its Technology Ecosystem

The first name that naturally attracts attention is TSMC. Its importance goes beyond being a major chip manufacturer. It plays a critical role in producing advanced semiconductors used across smartphones, high-performance computing and AI infrastructure.

TSMC's latest Q3 2026 results showed just how strong this demand has been. Revenue reached approximately $46.72 billion, representing 41.2% year-over-year growth, while gross margin stood at 66.4%.

That tells us something important: the AI investment cycle is not only benefiting companies that design AI chips. The manufacturers responsible for producing those chips are also seeing substantial demand.

However, strong financial performance does not automatically mean the stock is cheap. Expectations, valuation and future growth are just as important as the latest earnings.

MediaTek and Hon Hai Offer Different Exposure

MediaTek is another company worth watching. Its business is closely connected to smartphone chips, connectivity and increasingly advanced computing applications. The company's management has also highlighted continued growth potential in AI-related demand.

Hon Hai, commonly known as Foxconn, represents a different part of the ecosystem. Its manufacturing and assembly operations connect it to major electronics and technology supply chains.

This distinction matters. TSMC, MediaTek and Hon Hai are not interchangeable investments. Their revenue drivers, margins, competitive positions and exposure to global demand are different.

If technology stocks face a correction, these companies may not respond in exactly the same way.

What Changes With USDT Trading?

The practical attraction is straightforward: users can access these stock-related trading products through USDT rather than dealing directly with a traditional local-currency stock account.

The announced trading arrangement covers 19 TWSE-listed stocks, including TSMC (2330), MediaTek (2454), Hon Hai (2317) and Quanta Computer (2382).

Prices, holdings and profit or loss are presented with TWD valuation, while trading fees are charged in USDT. The published trading schedule follows Taiwan market hours, from 09:00 to 13:25 UTC+8.

But there is an important detail traders should not overlook: a USDT trading balance does not remove currency exposure. The underlying stock price is still connected to the Taiwan market and its local-currency valuation.

Before entering a position, I would also check the exact product structure, settlement terms, trading availability and any restrictions. Access through a trading platform should not be treated as identical to directly owning shares.

The Risks Behind the Opportunity

Taiwan's technology sector has strong long-term relevance, but it also faces risks.

Semiconductor demand can move in cycles. Manufacturing requires enormous capital investment, and geopolitical tensions can influence investor sentiment and supply-chain expectations. A company can report excellent earnings and still experience a falling share price if the market was expecting even better results.

There is also the risk of concentrating too heavily on one theme. Buying several technology companies does not necessarily create meaningful diversification if all of them depend on the same AI and semiconductor spending cycle.

My Take

I see this launch as an interesting expansion of market access, especially for traders who already follow the global AI and semiconductor industry.

TSMC would be one of my first companies to study because of its position in advanced chip manufacturing. But I would not buy simply because it is now easier to trade. I would compare valuation, earnings momentum, market conditions and the risks attached to the product itself.

The real opportunity is not just having more stocks available. It is being able to understand what makes each business valuable and choosing the right entry when the market offers a reasonable price.

Which Taiwan-listed company would you watch most closely: TSMC, MediaTek, Hon Hai or another name from the new lineup?

Not financial advice.
