This week is a full stress test for markets. Tech earnings, U.S. Midterm Elections, and the October Jobs Report all land in 5 days. Volatility will be high. Logic will beat emotion.
Here is how I read the calendar and where I stand:
Nov 2 - Monday: The Big Opener - $AAPL $PLTR + ISM Manufacturing
Apple reports fiscal Q4 after close. This is the first report under new CEO John Ternus, iPhone Duo demand, holiday quarter guide, and memory chip cost pressure are in focus. Consensus near $113.3B revenue and $1.98 EPS. Palantir also reports after close, revenue consensus near $2.18B. Both will test AI trade after a $2T Nasdaq-100 sell-off in October. ISM Manufacturing PMI at 10am ET will set the macro tone.
My take: I will not chase before print. Apple needs a strong guide to hold. Palantir needs to show real monetization, not just story. Act after, not before.
Nov 3 - Tuesday: The Most Critical Day - U.S. Midterm Elections + $ AMD $SMCI
U.S. Midterms on Nov 3 will decide market direction for 2026. History shows post-midterm volatility. On same day, AMD and Supermicro report after close. AMD consensus near $13.1B, focus on Data Center, Instinct AI accelerators, and Client chip demand. Supermicro lifted its Q1 outlook to $18.5B - $19.5B from $14.5B - $15.5B on strong AI server demand. Final numbers due Nov 3 at 5pm ET.
My watchlist: $ AMD is the AI chip barometer. If data center is soft, $QCOM $ARM will feel it next day. $SMCI is high beta - a beat could trigger short squeeze, a miss could drag whole AI infra.
Nov 4 - Wednesday: Chip Supply Chain Test - $QCOM $ARM + ISM Services
Qualcomm and Arm report after close. QCOM ~ $10.1B, ARM ~ $1.4B consensus. Focus is smartphone demand and AI royalty growth. ISM Services PMI same day. If services stay strong, Fed hawkish bets rise.
My take: $QCOM $ARM are second-derivative AI plays. If AMD is strong, these get tailwind.
Nov 5 - Thursday: Demand Check - $ABNB $NET
Airbnb and Cloudflare Q3. Travel demand and AI network infra in focus. This is a read on consumer and enterprise spend.
Nov 6 - Friday: The Decider - October Jobs Report + Fed Rate Path
Nonfarm Payrolls at 8:30am ET, expected +65k jobs. Watch for wage growth and unemployment. This will shift Fed rate expectations for December instantly. $QQQ $SPY $TLT will move hard.
My Strategy: Act on earnings or wait for macro clarity?
I am splitting my book:
1. Earnings trades: Small size in $AAPL $ AMD before print, larger size after confirmation. 2. Macro hedge: Long $TLT volatility into Friday Jobs Report. 3. No new longs into Midterm results. Cash is a position this week.
Reasoning: Earnings can move 5-10% in minutes, but Midterms + Jobs can move the whole market 2-3%. Earnings without macro clarity is gambling.
My final watchlist for Gate Square:
$AAPL $PLTR $AMD $SMCI $QCOM $ARM $ABNB $QQQ
What is your play? Are you trading the print or waiting for the Jobs Report to confirm Fed path?
