Gate SOL Staking Reaches 663.6K SOL: GTSOL Is Changing How Investors Use Their Holdings

Holding cryptocurrency is no longer just about waiting for its market price to increase. Investors are increasingly looking at ways to make their existing assets productive without completely giving up their ability to use them. Gate's latest SOL staking milestone highlights this shift.

Gate's total SOL staking has reached approximately 663,600 SOL, while its staking page displays an estimated additional annualized reward rate of 7.29%. This growing participation reflects the increasing interest in earning rewards from existing SOL holdings rather than relying entirely on price appreciation.

However, the most interesting development is not simply the yield. It is the flexibility introduced through GTSOL.

GTSOL: Turning a staking position into a usable asset

Traditional staking can limit how quickly investors access their capital. Gate's GTSOL model takes a different approach.

When users stake SOL, they receive GTSOL, a liquid staking receipt token representing their underlying staked position. Its redemption value changes as staking rewards accumulate, allowing the holder to receive more SOL through the conversion rate over time.

The important advantage is that GTSOL is not limited to simply representing a locked staking position. Following its recent spot listing, it can also be traded against USDT. Gate supports additional uses, including eligible collateral and wealth-management applications, subject to product rules.

This creates a different approach to capital management. Instead of choosing exclusively between earning staking rewards and maintaining access to an asset, holders have additional ways to deploy their position.

Why the 663.6K SOL milestone matters

The growing staking balance indicates that more SOL is being allocated to a yield-generating strategy within Gate's ecosystem.

For long-term holders, staking can provide an additional source of SOL-denominated returns. Those rewards can gradually increase the amount of SOL represented by their GTSOL holdings, without requiring active trading.

But the 7.29% displayed rate needs to be understood correctly. It is an estimated additional reward rate, not a permanent or guaranteed return. Actual earnings depend on the applicable reward structure, staking conditions and product rules.

The risk that investors should not overlook

Staking rewards do not eliminate market risk.

If SOL experiences a significant price decline, the value of the underlying position can fall even while staking rewards continue accumulating. A 7.29% annualized reward cannot automatically protect an investor against a substantial decline in SOL's market price.

There are also other considerations, including changes in reward rates, GTSOL market liquidity, possible differences between its trading price and redemption value, and the risks associated with custody, validators and smart contracts.

Using GTSOL as trading collateral can introduce additional liquidation risk if the market moves against an open position.

This is why staking should be considered part of an overall asset-management strategy rather than a risk-free income opportunity.

My market perspective

I see the growth of Gate SOL staking as part of a broader development in crypto: investors are becoming more interested in capital efficiency.

For someone already planning to hold SOL over a longer period, earning staking rewards may offer an additional benefit. For active traders who need immediate flexibility to respond to market movements, keeping some SOL in spot holdings may remain more suitable.

A balanced approach can make sense, with a portion allocated to staking and another portion kept available for market opportunities. The appropriate allocation depends on liquidity needs, risk tolerance and investment horizon.

Final thoughts

The 663.6K SOL milestone is more than a staking statistic. It highlights how crypto platforms are developing new ways for investors to use their holdings while participating in network rewards.

GTSOL brings together staking exposure, tradability and additional capital-use opportunities. Its real value will depend on how effectively these features work together while maintaining transparent redemption conditions and sustainable rewards.

In the long run, successful crypto asset management is not only about holding the right asset. It is also about understanding how to use that asset efficiently without taking unnecessary risks.

7.29% looks decent, but keep an eye on what actually gets credited—the estimated annualized yield often differs from what's displayed

The risk section is very candid: if the token price drops 30%, a 7% yield is nowhere near enough to cover the loss. Don’t focus only on APY

Put simply, it lets HODLers earn yield while staying flexible. Those bullish on SOL long term may want to look into it

The fact that GTSOL can be used as collateral is pretty useful—you can still leverage it while it's staked, maximizing capital efficiency

Gate's SOL staking volume has surpassed 660,000, and GTSOL's liquidity design is indeed much more user-friendly than traditional lockups.
