Bitcoin has officially lost the $80K psychological level. Right now $BTC is trading at $77,462.2, down -3.27% on the day after hitting a 24h High of $81,965.5 and flushing to a 24h Low of $76,495.4. In the last 15 minutes alone it printed -0.46%. Perp is trading at $77,439.2 (-3.28%) with 19.82K BTC volume and $1.56B turnover - this is not a quiet drop, this is active selling.
The 1h chart I am watching tells the real story:
MA5: 77,661.8 / MA10: 78,012.8 / MA30: 79,140.5
We are trading BELOW all three moving averages. This is a full bearish alignment. The $79,140.5 MA30 which was support for weeks, is now acting as strong resistance. Even the average entry line around $78,571.5 is lost. When price stays below MA5 at $77,661.8, every bounce is sold.
So, is this a buying opportunity?
My answer: It's both. It's a trap for impatient buyers, and an opportunity for disciplined buyers.
Why we fell below $80K:
1. ETF Cost Basis Break: US Spot ETF average cost is around $81,500. When we broke $81,965.5 to $76,495.4, we triggered a wave of ETF holder capitulation. This is technical selling, not fundamental change. 2. Liquidity Hunt: $80K was stacked with long stop losses. Market makers love to hunt round numbers. The wick to $76,495.4 was a classic liquidity grab. 3. Momentum Failure: We failed to hold $81,965.5. That double top on 1h led to aggressive long unwinding.
Is it further downside?
Yes, risk is still down until proven otherwise. As long as we are below $79,140.5 (MA30), the path of least resistance is down. A breakdown below today's low $76,495.4 opens the door to $74,000 - $72,500 area where the next major daily support sits. Volume at $1.56B confirms sellers are in control.
My Target Entry Plan - No FOMO:
I am NOT buying the first green candle. I am buying levels.
Plan A - Conservative Buy: I wait for a 1h close BACK above $77,661.8 (MA5). First entry $77,600 with tight stop at $76,400. Target $79,140.5. This is a counter-trend trade.
Plan B - Main Opportunity (My Primary Plan): The real buying opportunity is lower. I have staggered limit orders at $76,500 (today's low retest), $74,200 and $72,800. This is where liquidity pools and daily support confluence lies. This zone is a high-probability long-term accumulation area.
Plan C - Confirmation: If we lose $76,495.4 with high volume, I will NOT buy. I will wait. Capitulation often ends with a fast wick and high volume reversal. I want to see that reversal first.
Risk Management:
In this tape, capital protection is the best trade. I risk max 1% per entry. No leverage above 3x. No sleeping without stop-loss. Below $80K, volatility will be extreme.
Final Thought:
$80K breakdown is scary, but every major bull market had 3-4 such shakes. This drop from $81,965.5 to $76,495.4 is painful, but it is also how market resets leverage and builds base for next leg. For traders, it's danger. For investors with patience, $77,000 to $73,000 area is historically where smart money starts to scale in.
My target entry is not one price, it's a zone: $76,500 to $72,800 for DCA.
What is your plan? Are you buying this dip or waiting for lower?
