SanDisk (SNDK) Delivers Another Massive Beat in US Earnings Season – Here’s Why I’m Fully Backing It
US Earnings Season is in full swing and the storage sector just delivered one of the strongest reports of the cycle. Sandisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) reported fiscal first quarter 2027 results on October 29, 2026, and the numbers were exceptional across every key metric the market watches.
Revenue came in at $11.0 billion to $11.03 billion. That represents a sequential increase of 23 percent from the prior quarter and a year-over-year surge of approximately 378 percent. Consensus estimates had been sitting around $10.70 billion to $10.72 billion, so Sandisk beat the top line by roughly $300 million to $330 million. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share landed at $49.51 against consensus estimates in the $46.19 to $47.15 range, producing a clean beat of more than $3 per share. GAAP net income reached $8.1 billion, or $52.60 per diluted share, up 20 percent sequentially. Non-GAAP gross margin expanded to 85.1 percent, continuing the upward trajectory from 84.6 percent in the previous quarter
These results were driven by relentless AI and data-center demand. Data-center revenue continued its explosive growth trajectory, with management highlighting robust and expanding long-term customer partnerships. Bit demand in the data-center segment is projected to grow approximately 40 percent year-over-year in calendar 2027, and data center is expected to represent more than 55 percent of the overall NAND market next year. Sandisk has locked in multi-year non-binding memoranda (NBMs) and long-term supply agreements that already cover a substantial portion of future bits at floor pricing, providing exceptional visibility. Management noted that roughly 50 percent of fiscal 2027 bits and two-thirds of fiscal 2028 bits are already under these arrangements, with the vast majority involving investment-grade customers
Looking ahead, Sandisk guided fiscal second quarter 2027 revenue in the range of $12.2 billion to $12.6 billion and non-GAAP diluted net income per share of $55.00 to $57.00 on a pre-split basis. That guidance implies continued sequential growth and margin strength in the 84.5 percent to 85.5 percent non-GAAP gross margin range. The company also announced an eight-for-one forward stock split, with the record date of November 9, 2026, additional shares distributed after market close on November 19, and split-adjusted trading beginning November 20, 2026. This move is designed to improve accessibility and liquidity for a broader base of investors and employees while leaving market capitalization and ownership percentages unchanged.
Price action immediately after the report reflected classic “sell the news” dynamics. Shares closed at $1,150.89 on October 30, 2026, down $179.16 or 13.47 percent from the prior close of $1,330.05. Intraday range was $1,115.16 to $1,239.00. After-hours trading showed a modest recovery to around $1,157.57. Volume exploded to approximately 17.5 million shares, well above the recent average daily volume of roughly 9 million to 11 million shares. That elevated volume underscores strong liquidity and active participation from both institutional and retail traders.
Market capitalization sits near $164 billion to $166 billion based on approximately 142 million to 144.5 million shares outstanding. The 52-week range remains wide at $183.00 to $2,354.39. Year-to-date the stock is still up roughly 385 percent and the one-year gain stands near 488 percent, illustrating the magnitude of the AI-driven re-rating that has already occurred
Valuation remains compelling relative to the growth profile. Trailing P/E is in the high single digits to mid-teens depending on the exact EPS base used, while the forward P/E based on next-year estimates is even lower. Average analyst price targets cluster in the $2,000 to $2,200 area, implying substantial upside of 70 percent or more from current levels. Multiple firms maintain Buy or Strong Buy ratings, citing the structural shift toward AI storage, disciplined supply management, and the expanding high-bandwidth flash opportunity.
Liquidity has been robust throughout the recent volatility. The combination of high absolute volume, tight bid-ask spreads on most trading days, and the upcoming stock split should further enhance tradability. Institutional ownership is elevated, and the free float is essentially the entire share count, supporting deep liquidity even during large percentage moves. Average volume over the past 20 to 30 days has been in the 8.5 million to 10.8 million range, but event days like the earnings release push that figure well into the mid-teens of millions of shares
From a fundamental standpoint the story remains intact. AI infrastructure buildouts continue to require massive amounts of high-performance NAND. Sandisk’s technology roadmap, including BiCS generations and emerging high-bandwidth flash solutions, positions it to capture a disproportionate share of that demand. Management has repeatedly emphasized capital discipline, with CapEx intensity expected to decline as a percentage of revenue even while absolute investment supports technology leadership. Free cash flow generation has been strong, enabling aggressive share repurchases in prior periods and supporting the overall capital return framework
Compared with other names in the broader semiconductor and storage complex, Sandisk’s sequential and year-over-year growth rates, margin expansion, and multi-year contract coverage stand out. The market’s post-earnings reaction appears more focused on the second-derivative slowdown in the rate of acceleration rather than any deterioration in absolute demand or profitability. Guidance still points to healthy sequential growth and sustained high margins. The stock split will lower the nominal share price dramatically, potentially attracting additional retail participation and further improving liquidity metrics over the coming weeks
My position for this earnings cycle and beyond is clear: Sandisk is the standout name among the group that has already reported or is in focus. The magnitude of the top-line and bottom-line beats, the quality of the guidance, the structural AI tailwinds, and the improving liquidity profile after the split all support continued outperformance once the short-term profit-taking subsides. Price percentage moves of this size on elevated volume are typical after extraordinary runs, yet the underlying business metrics continue to improve
Volume spikes of 17-plus million shares on the reaction day demonstrate that the market is actively pricing the new information. Liquidity remains ample for both large and small participants. Percentage gains year-to-date and over the trailing twelve months remain among the strongest in the entire technology sector. Forward estimates continue to rise as analysts incorporate the latest results and guidance.
In summary, Sandisk beat revenue expectations by several hundred million dollars, beat EPS expectations by more than three dollars per share, expanded margins, raised the forward outlook, and announced a liquidity-enhancing stock split. Data-center demand is real and growing at approximately 40 percent for bits next year. Long-term customer agreements provide multi-year visibility. Valuation still offers upside to consensus targets. High trading volume confirms healthy liquidity. These are the facts that matter for the remainder of US Earnings Season and the quarters ahead
I am firmly backing Sandisk. The numbers already delivered speak louder than any pre-earnings speculation. The combination of price performance history, current percentage pullback, elevated volume, strong liquidity, and superior fundamental momentum makes this the most compelling name in the storage and memory complex right now.
