A $100 price tag could matter more to Strategy than it looks.
STRC recently climbed to approximately $99.30, moving close to its $100 stated value for the first time in 165 days. But the bigger story is what that recovery could mean for Strategy’s ability to raise capital.
Here’s why I’m watching this closely.
1️⃣ Why the $100 level matters
Strategy has indicated that it does not intend to issue new STRC below its $100 stated value to fund Bitcoin purchases.
That creates an important distinction:
Below $100: issuing new shares could mean raising less than their stated value.
Around $100: the company may have more flexibility to issue shares near par.
Sustained demand: could make this funding channel more useful over time.
However, a single move to $99.95 does not confirm that new issuance has resumed.
2️⃣ The dividend mechanism is part of the story
STRC currently carries a 12% annualized dividend rate, reviewed monthly under Strategy’s policy.
Shareholders also approved a change to daily dividend accrual and payment mechanics. The first daily-dividend record date is scheduled for November 1, with payment on November 2, subject to the amended terms taking effect.
More frequent dividend payments may help reduce predictable price adjustments around dividend dates. But they do not remove issuer risk or guarantee that STRC will stay near $100.
3️⃣ What this could mean for Bitcoin
If STRC demand remains strong and Strategy resumes issuing shares near par, the company could potentially raise additional capital for BTC purchases.
That creates a possible financing cycle:
STRC demand → capital raised → potential BTC purchases → greater Bitcoin exposure.
But this cycle depends on investor demand, financing costs, BTC market conditions and Strategy’s capital allocation decisions. A weaker BTC market could also make investors reassess the risk of the entire structure.
4️⃣ The risk investors should not overlook
STRC is perpetual preferred equity, not a Bitcoin-backed deposit or a guaranteed $100 redemption product. Its dividends are subject to the applicable terms and board declarations, and its market price can move below stated value.
A 12% dividend rate may attract income-focused demand, but it is also a financing cost that Strategy must manage.
My take: The real signal is not whether STRC touches $100 for one session. It is whether it can maintain healthy demand around par without relying excessively on buybacks or other support measures.
I would watch three things next:
Whether STRC holds near $100 over multiple sessions.
Whether Strategy confirms new STRC issuance.
Whether any additional capital raised actually translates into BTC purchases.
One question worth discussing: If STRC stays near par, does that make you more confident in Strategy’s ability to fund future Bitcoin accumulation, or does the 12% financing cost remain the bigger concern?
