Silver has experienced a sharp pullback, with prices recently sliding below the 49 dollar mark per ounce. This movement follows a steep multi-month decline from the highs seen earlier this year. The rapid cooling of the precious metal's momentum reflects a mix of shifting macroeconomic expectations and weakening industrial demand.

The primary driver behind this pressure is the changing interest rate outlook. Recent sharp rises in crude oil prices have sustained inflationary concerns, which in turn strengthened market expectations for Federal Reserve rate hikes. The Federal Reserve recently held rates steady within the 3.75 to 4.00 percent range. However, the prospect of higher rates increases the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like silver, which can limit investment inflows.

Additionally, recent volatility in technology and chip stocks has led some investors to seek liquidity. This environment prompted a reduction in precious metal positions to raise cash, accelerating the decline. From an industrial perspective, demand has also softened. Industry research indicates that industrial fabrication demand is forecast to decline this year, hitting a four-year low, partly due to reduced usage in the photovoltaic sector.

Market analysts are watching the 50 dollar level closely. The metal remains in a corrective phase, with technical indicators suggesting that selling pressure may persist in the near term. While physical supply deficits persist, the current direction is heavily influenced by macroeconomic factors and bond yields. I am holding my positions and watching the market. Which signal matters more to you here, the interest rate outlook or the industrial demand trends.

This is not financial advice.

Volatility in chip stocks triggered a sell-off in precious metals. I hadn’t really noticed this correlation before.

The Fed is holding steady, but markets are already pricing in rate hikes, putting immense pressure on non-yielding assets

I'm waiting to see how price reacts around the 50 technical level; with liquidity like this, I don't dare make any moves

Silver’s pullback has been brutal—it couldn’t even hold $49. Bulls are feeling the pain.
