My approach is to prioritize capital preservation over the weekend while keeping enough exposure to benefit from new opportunities. I wouldn't automatically close profitable positions or hold losing ones just because it's Friday. Every position should be evaluated based on its risk/reward profile and the possibility of unexpected weekend volatility.

1. Which assets are worth holding?

- Gold: Worth considering as a hedge against geopolitical uncertainty, currency weakness, and market volatility.

- Bitcoin and major cryptocurrencies: Potentially attractive for longer-term investors, but weekend volatility and liquidity risks require smaller position sizes.

- Strong fundamentally backed stocks: Worth holding when the investment thesis remains intact and there is no major negative catalyst approaching.

- Cash or stable reserves: Keeping some capital available creates flexibility to take advantage of sudden market corrections or attractive entry points.

2. Managing take-profit and stop-loss orders

I prefer to establish risk levels before the weekend rather than making emotional decisions when markets become volatile.

- Secure partial profits when a position has reached its target.

- Keep stop-loss levels consistent with the original trading strategy.

- Avoid moving stop-losses farther away simply to avoid being stopped out.

- Reduce exposure when a position carries excessive overnight or weekend risk.

- Remember that stop-loss orders may execute at worse prices during gaps or periods of low liquidity.

3. What would make me adjust my positions?

I would reconsider my strategy if:

- Unexpected geopolitical developments increase market uncertainty.

- Major economic announcements change interest-rate expectations.

- Bitcoin or other major assets break important technical support or resistance levels.

- Company news or earnings guidance weakens an investment thesis.

- Market sentiment changes significantly or risk/reward becomes unattractive.

My biggest lesson from this week

One thing I've learned is that protecting profits is just as important as finding profitable opportunities. It's tempting to remain fully invested when markets are moving in your favor, but having available capital provides a significant advantage when conditions change.

Ultimately, I prefer entering Monday with a well-balanced portfolio, controlled downside risk, and enough liquidity to act on opportunities rather than spending the weekend worrying about open positions.

The goal isn't to maximize exposure before the weekend; it's to maximize flexibility for the week ahead.
