Gold is trading near 3,894.10 dollars an ounce, down about 3.16 percent in the session. Prices slipped as low as 3,891.63 dollars, a sharp drop from the 4,021.39 dollar previous close. This move comes after a steady decline from late August highs near 4,696 dollars.
Three forces are driving the drop. First, rising oil prices linked to Middle East tensions are feeding inflation concerns. Markets now see a higher chance of another Federal Reserve rate hike in December, which strengthens the dollar and pressures gold. Second, a selloff in technology stocks, tied to doubts over artificial intelligence spending, is pushing investors to raise cash by selling assets like gold. Third, earlier this week gold broke below the 4,000 dollar level, a key psychological mark.
For you, the immediate focus is the 3,886 dollar zone. Standard Chartered analysts note that a sustained break below this level could open the door to a deeper correction. On the upside, 4,000 to 4,042 dollars may now act as resistance.
Markets are watching the next inflation readings and the December Fed guidance. If price pressures ease, gold may find support. If selling pressure continues, volatility may stay elevated. I am holding my positions and watching the market. Which signal matters more to you here, the rate outlook or the technical support level. This is not financial advice.
