$BTC Falls Below $80,000 Threshold: Is This a Flush Setting Up a Real Buy Chance?
$BTC lost its key psychological level. After testing $81,700 yesterday, the price slipped under $80,000 in Asian hours and now trades around $76,500 - $77,300. Daily low was $76,400. Daily loss is between 3.5% and 4.5%.
This move is not a simple pull-back. Two major drivers hit at once.
1. A Historic Leverage Flush
Last October, more than $19 billion in leveraged positions were wiped in 24 hours, with over 1.6 million accounts closed. Most of those were long positions built with high leverage. We see a similar picture today. Over $1.5 billion in leveraged long positions were forced closed in the last 24 hours. This kind of flush is viewed as healthy by pro traders. Weak hands exit, funding rates reset, open interest drops, and the market base becomes more solid for the next leg up.
2. Weak Risk Appetite
Selling pressure in tech stocks and fears linked to a security breach at a major trading venue hurt short-term trust. $BTC now holds below its 50-day average near $80,500, keeping the short-term bias bearish.
So is this drop a buy chance or a sign of a fading trend?
A pro view splits the picture:
Short Term: Cautious Stance Needed
$80,000 is now a resistance. Unless price reclaims it with a daily close, chasing long entries is risky. First support sits at $76,300, second and stronger support at $73,000. A daily close below $76,000 could open the door to a deeper move toward $73,000.
Mid Term: A Strategic Accumulation Zone
In past cycles, drops that come right after a leverage flush have often offered the best zones for gradual buying. Market cap holding near $1.6 trillion shows long-term demand remains alive.
Trader plan for dip buying:
• Avoid all-in entry, use staged buying
• $76,500 - $75,800 zone can be watched as first stage
• $73,500 - $73,000 zone stands out as second strong accumulation area
• Stop-loss below $71,800 can work as a buffer
• Upside goals: $80,188 first, then $82,000
Bottom line: This fall does not mean the trend is over. It looks more like the result of over-leveraged long build-up plus short-term panic. For calm, plan-driven traders with sound risk control, the $77,000 area is where fear peaks but value begins to form. Smart money builds positions when noise fades.
