Bitcoin Under Pressure: ETF Outflows, Fed Uncertainty and the Battle for $80K
Bitcoin is facing renewed selling pressure as weakening technical structure combines with institutional outflows and growing macroeconomic uncertainty. Although BTC has shown periods of recovery, buyers have struggled to establish a convincing trend reversal.
The key question now is whether the $77,000–$80,000 region can provide a foundation for another recovery or whether further downside is approaching.
1. BTC Technical Structure: Bulls Need to Reclaim $80K
Bitcoin recently traded around $78,660, attempting to recover after breaking several important support levels.
The short-term technical picture remains weak, with the price moving inside a declining trend structure. Previous supports around $82,248 and $81,000 have turned into potential resistance.
The most important levels to monitor are:
- Immediate support: $77,000–$78,000
- Major downside zone: $75,000–$76,000
- First resistance: $80,000–$81,000
- Stronger resistance: $82,000–$84,000
- Major recovery threshold: $87,700
A sustained move above $80,000 with strong spot volume could improve short-term sentiment. Conversely, losing $77,000 would increase the probability of another decline toward $75,000–$76,000.
2. ETF Capital Flows: Institutional Demand Is Losing Momentum
One of the biggest concerns is the reversal in US spot Bitcoin ETF flows.
During the reported period, Bitcoin ETFs experienced approximately $678.9 million in weekly net outflows, compared with $241.1 million in inflows during the previous week.
Wednesday alone recorded around $484.9 million in withdrawals.
Fidelity's FBTC and ARK 21Shares' ARKB accounted for substantial portions of the reported outflows, while BlackRock's IBIT remained relatively stable over the broader period.
This is particularly important because Bitcoin ETFs had previously attracted approximately $2.6 billion over three weeks.
The reversal suggests institutional positioning has become more cautious. However, several consecutive sessions of positive inflows would be needed before concluding that demand has recovered.
3. Federal Reserve Policy: The Macro Pressure Point
Interest-rate expectations remain another major factor influencing Bitcoin.
The October FOMC decision and rising Treasury yields have increased uncertainty around financial conditions.
When bond yields rise, investors have stronger incentives to consider traditional fixed-income assets rather than non-yielding investments such as Bitcoin.
A stronger US dollar and tighter liquidity conditions could create additional pressure on cryptocurrencies and other risk-sensitive assets.
For Bitcoin, the macroeconomic environment remains an important obstacle to a sustainable recovery.
4. November 10 CPI: The Next Major Catalyst
The upcoming October inflation report, scheduled for November 10, could significantly influence market expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's next policy decisions.
The previous reported inflation figures showed headline CPI at 3.7% and core CPI at 2.6%, indicating persistent inflationary pressure.
Two scenarios deserve attention:
Bullish Scenario – Inflation Cools
If inflation comes in below expectations, markets could anticipate less restrictive monetary policy.
This may support Bitcoin's recovery toward $82,000–$84,000, provided ETF demand and spot buying also improve.
Bearish Scenario – Inflation Remains Elevated
If inflation remains around 3.7% or accelerates further, expectations of higher interest rates could strengthen.
That could pressure the dollar-denominated crypto market and expose BTC to another test of $77,000, followed by the $75,000–$76,000 region.
5. My Market Outlook: Patience Before the Next Entry
Bitcoin's current weakness reflects several overlapping pressures rather than a single technical breakdown.
ETF outflows indicate weaker institutional demand, resistance around $84,000 has repeatedly limited recovery attempts, and inflation uncertainty continues to influence risk appetite.
My focus remains on three signals:
- Whether BTC can defend the $77,000 support region.
- Whether daily ETF flows return to consistently positive territory.
- Whether Bitcoin can reclaim $80,000–$84,000 with convincing spot buying.
I would avoid chasing short-term rebounds without confirmation. A sustained reclaim of $80,000 could offer the first meaningful improvement in market structure, while a confirmed breakdown below $77,000 would shift attention toward lower support.
Final Verdict
Bitcoin is approaching an important decision zone. The broader market still has recovery potential, but institutional demand, Federal Reserve policy and inflation data will determine whether the next major move is upward or downward.
For now, capital preservation and disciplined entries matter more than predicting an exact bottom.
The next trend will require confirmation from both price action and capital flows.
