HYPE and ZEC Are Attracting Institutional Capital. The ETF Numbers Tell an Interesting Story.
While Bitcoin and Ethereum are dealing with market uncertainty, two different crypto assets are showing encouraging institutional demand. According to SoSoValue, HYPE and ZEC spot ETFs recorded combined net inflows of $18.51 million on October 29 (US Eastern Time).
What makes this development interesting is that both assets attracted capital through individual ETF products, rather than relying on broad market recovery.
HYPE: Institutional interest is building
HYPE spot ETFs recorded $3.70 million in net inflows, with Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF (BHYP) accounting for the entire amount.
This brought historical cumulative net inflows to approximately $126 million, while total spot ETF assets under management reached $468 million.
This development is particularly relevant after the announcement involving ICE, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, and Trade[XYZ].
The partnership aims to bring Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures technology into a US-regulated market, subject to the necessary approvals.
Now there are two developments supporting the HYPE narrative: growing institutional exposure through ETFs and increasing interest in Hyperliquid's underlying trading infrastructure.
However, ETF inflows do not automatically translate into direct purchases of HYPE in the spot market. The actual investment structure and fund creation mechanisms matter.
ZEC: Stronger ETF inflows deserve attention
Zcash recorded $14.81 million in spot ETF net inflows, with the Zcash ETF (ZCSH) as the sole contributor.
Its cumulative historical net inflows reached approximately $226 million, while total ETF assets under management stood at $788 million.
This is particularly interesting because ZEC has a different investment narrative from HYPE.
Hyperliquid represents decentralized trading infrastructure and on-chain derivatives, while Zcash offers privacy-focused digital money with selective disclosure capabilities.
The ETF activity suggests that investors are exploring exposure to different crypto sectors rather than concentrating exclusively on Bitcoin and Ethereum.
What do these numbers actually mean for the market?
Combined, HYPE and ZEC attracted $18.51 million in net inflows in one trading session.
ZEC accounted for approximately 80% of that amount, while HYPE contributed approximately 20%.
The difference is important. ZEC currently has the larger cumulative ETF inflow and AUM, while HYPE is building institutional visibility around a rapidly developing derivatives ecosystem.
Still, one day's inflows cannot establish a long-term accumulation trend. Sustained subscriptions, trading liquidity and price performance will provide a clearer picture.
My market perspective
I see this as an encouraging development for both ecosystems, but their investment cases should be evaluated separately.
For HYPE, I would monitor whether ETF demand continues alongside Hyperliquid ecosystem growth, regulatory progress and actual institutional adoption.
For ZEC, I would focus on whether ETF inflows remain consistent, whether network activity supports the privacy narrative and whether price strength can survive broader market volatility.
The most interesting takeaway is that institutional crypto exposure is gradually becoming more diverse.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are no longer the only assets attracting attention through investment products. HYPE and ZEC are developing their own institutional narratives, although their risks and market structures remain very different.
Capital is beginning to explore different parts of the crypto ecosystem. The next test is whether these inflows become a sustained trend rather than a temporary burst of interest.
