#BTCDropsToward77000
Bitcoin's drop toward $77,000 is exposing an important difference between institutional demand and short-term market pressure.

Despite three consecutive trading sessions of inflows, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $423.7 million through October 28. Yet BTC continued to face selling pressure. This tells me that ETF inflows alone are not enough to reverse a weak market structure.

The bigger picture involves several factors working together. The Federal Reserve maintained interest rates at 3.75%–4%, but its hawkish tone and two officials supporting another rate hike added pressure to risk assets. Weakness in technology stocks also affected broader market sentiment. Meanwhile, leveraged long liquidations accelerated the downside, creating additional forced selling.

So, who's selling?

The available evidence points toward a combination of leveraged traders being forced out, short-term holders reducing exposure, and broader risk-off positioning. However, ETF flow data cannot identify every seller or prove that institutional investors are responsible for the selling.

October 30 adds another important factor. A major BTC options expiry is bringing additional short-term volatility risk, with positioning concentrated around several key strike levels.

My market view:

The $77,000 area is an important zone to watch. If buyers defend this region and BTC starts building a stronger base, a recovery toward $80,000 could become possible. However, another decisive breakdown could expose lower liquidity zones and extend the correction.

I would rather see BTC reclaim $80,000 and establish acceptance above it than rush into a falling market. ETF inflows are encouraging, but price action, spot demand and leverage conditions still need to confirm a reversal.

Institutional accumulation and short-term selling can happen at the same time. That is exactly why this market needs patience, confirmation and disciplined risk management.
