#CryptoTreasuryDivergence #Gate广场万圣节 Strategy Pauses at 848,517 BTC While Bitmine Adds 10,452 ETH. Is It a Market View or a Funding Story?

For the week of October 19 to 25, the two largest crypto treasuries moved in opposite directions. Strategy told the SEC it made no bitcoin purchases or sales and sold no shares under its at-the-market program. Bitmine added 10,452 ETH, lifting its holdings to about 6.05 million ETH, worth roughly $14.1 billion at $2,356 and equal to 4.95% of the 122.2 million ETH supply. BTC trades at $80,940, down 0.65%, and ETH at $2,353, down 1.23%. In the same week, Strive bought 6,182 BTC, so the pause is Strategy-specific, not a sector-wide one.

What Strategy's filing shows

Strategy holds 848,517 BTC bought for $64.02 billion, an average of $75,446 each. At $80,940 that stake is worth about $68.7 billion, a gain of roughly $4.7 billion or 7.3%, and BTC would need to fall about 6.8% to reach breakeven. The cash side tells the story of the pause. The USD reserve stands at $4.83 billion, but USD cash fell to $242.4 million from $833.4 million on October 4, a drop of 71%. This week Strategy spent $204.9 million repurchasing 2.07 million STRC shares, an average near $99, just under the $100 par value STRC has struggled to regain since May.

The preferred stack is the pressure point

STRC pays a variable dividend, currently 12%, on a market capitalization of about $9.0 billion, so its payout alone runs near $1.1 billion a year by my math. Shareholders vote today, October 28, on moving STRC and three other preferreds to daily dividend record dates, starting with STRC on November 1. The rate and total payout would not change, and the goal is to pull STRC back toward par. The proposal needs a majority of all outstanding common voting power, with abstentions counted against, and Michael Saylor holds 32.9%. Earlier this year, Strategy also created a program allowing bitcoin sales to fund its reserve and preferred payouts. MSTR fell 3.09% on October 26 when the pause was reported. Recent weekly buys had been small, around $22 million to $29 million, so the pause ends a streak of small purchases, not large ones.

Most Important 😱😱
What Bitmine's filing shows

Of Bitmine's holdings, 5,227,037 ETH, about 86%, are staked through its MAVAN platform and partners, so the treasury earns yield while it grows. The weekly purchase of 10,452 ETH is worth about $24.6 million and adds just 0.17% to holdings. It came while ETH fell about 13.6% in October and US spot ETH ETFs lost more than $1 billion. Bitmine is about 60,000 ETH, or roughly $141 million, short of 5% of supply, about six weeks at last week's pace. Chairman Tom Lee has argued ETH can beat its $4,953 record, which from $2,353 would take a gain of about 110%. Bitmine also repurchased 22.9 million of its own shares this year for about $399.6 million.

Bitcoin technical map from $80,940

Resistance sits at $81,500 (+0.7%), $82,024 (+1.3%), $82,539 (+2.0%) and $84,000 (+3.8%). Support sits at $80,000 (-1.2%), $79,146 (-2.2%), $78,000 (-3.6%) and $77,600 (-4.1%). The $80,000 to $81,500 zone is the cost-basis band, and price is inside it. Spot ETFs took in $301 million for the week to October 23 but lost $636 million on October 22, the largest single-day outflow since June. A close above $82,539 would break the lower-high sequence, while a break under $79,146 would open $78,000.

Ether technical map from $2,353

ETH lost its ascending trendline near $2,350 and sits just above the lower Bollinger Band at $2,301. Support sits at $2,300 (-2.3%), $2,280 (-3.1%), $2,200 (-6.5%) and QCP's $2,150 (-8.6%). Resistance sits at $2,362 (+0.4%), $2,400 (+2.0%), $2,500 (+6.2%) and $2,550 (+8.4%). The ETH/BTC ratio is near 0.029, close to a 10-month low, so ETH is lagging Bitcoin. Whales are reportedly adding shorts, and ETF outflows have run four straight weeks. On the supportive side, Santiment recorded about 169,770 ETH of net exchange withdrawals on October 22, and exchange reserves are at a weekly low.

The macro overlay

The Fed decides at 2:00 p.m. ET today, with a hold priced near 91% and a December hike near 79%. The dollar index is near 102.3 and the 10-year yield at 4.99%, both headwinds for crypto if the tone is hawkish.

The answer to the divergence

Neither move is a clean price forecast. Strategy kept every coin and sold none, but chose to defend STRC with its cash instead of buying more BTC, which is a funding priority. Bitmine's buying, mostly staked, looks like execution of a supply target near 5%, not a call on ETH's next move. The same weekly flow tells two different stories, and the evidence points to funding plans over views. What would change that reading: the STRC vote outcome and whether STRC holds near $100, a rebuild of Strategy's USD cash, Bitmine crossing 5% and still buying below $2,300, and technical confirmation from BTC above $82,539 and ETH above $2,400.
