#每周来晒 #美联储利率决议倒计时 #Gate广场万圣节 A Hold Is Priced at 91%, so the Real Event Is the December Hike Signal for Bitcoin, Wall Street and Gold
The Fed announces its decision at 02:00 Beijing time on October 29 (2:00 p.m. ET), with Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference 30 minutes later. The target range is 3.75% to 4.00% after a 25-basis-point hike on September 16, the first since 2023. Futures price a hold at about 91%, Kalshi at 93% and Polymarket at 94%, and 94 of 100 economists in a Reuters poll expect one. With the headline priced, the language is the event. BTC trades at $81,110 and gold at $4,043.
The rate path: December is the real vote
Futures put about a 79% chance on a December 8 to 9 hike (72% for one, 7% for two), and all 100 economists polled expect one. Reuters reports markets pricing at least two more hikes by mid-2027, and futures imply a policy rate near 4.15% after December. Cuts are effectively priced out. Warsh has dropped forward guidance and there is no dot plot this month, so the statement and press conference carry the signal. His September hike surprised markets, when he said inflation has been too high for too long.
Inflation and jobs:
September CPI rose 0.6% on the month and 3.7% from a year earlier, above the 3.6% forecast, up from 3.4% and well above the 2% target. Core PCE has climbed from 3.0% in December 2025 to 3.3% by July. The counterweight is labor: ADP showed 32,000 jobs lost in September, and delayed government data leaves the Fed with less information. A weak labor read is the main argument against a December hike.
Bitcoin: $81,110 inside a range
BTC is up 1.4% from Monday's $79,970 and 2.5% above Saturday's $79,146 low. It remains inside the range between that low and the $84,840 rejection on October 21, and inside the $80,000 to $81,500 cost-basis band, 0.5% below its top and near the 50-day average of about $81,700.
- Resistance: $81,500 (+0.5%), $82,024 (+1.1%), $82,539 (+1.8%), $84,000 (+3.6%)
- Support: $80,000 (-1.4%), $79,146 (-2.4%), $78,000 (-3.8%), $77,600 (-4.3%)
Momentum is soft, with RSI near 44 and a negative MACD histogram at the weekend reading. Spot ETFs took in $301 million net for the week to October 23, but $636 million left on October 22, the biggest day since June, and $773.5 million over two sessions. More than $810 million was liquidated in 24 hours on the weekend flush, mostly longs, and October 30 options expiry adds volatility. The dollar index rose 0.35% to 102.32 and the 10-year yield sits at 4.99%, both headwinds. A supportive sign: the one-year change in whale holdings improved from about -282,000 BTC to -39,000, per CryptoQuant.
US stocks: valuations versus borrowing costs
The Nasdaq rose 1.18% to 26,477.81 on chips and falling oil, and the S&P 500 gained 0.60% to 7,722.60, 1.6% below its record of 7,844.67. The Russell 2000 rose 1.16%. The Nasdaq is 0.5% below its 50-day average near 26,600. With the 2-year at 4.74%, the 10-year at 4.99% and the 30-year at 5.30%, AI valuations are sensitive to any hawkish signal, and Microsoft and Alphabet report after the close on October 28.
Gold: real yields against safe-haven demand
Gold at $4,043 is up 0.65% from Monday's $4,017 close but below Tuesday's $4,055, and December futures settled at $4,074.60. A Reuters survey shows analysts cutting their 2026 gold forecasts for a second straight quarter on high yields, a strong dollar and higher-for-longer rates. A real yield near 1.3% (the 10-year at 4.99% less 3.7% CPI) is the headwind, while Gulf tensions keep safe-haven demand alive. Support sits at $3,978 to $3,986 (-1.6% to -1.4%) and resistance at $4,075 (+0.8%) and $4,100 (+1.4%).
Two-sided scenario:
Softer message: the statement acknowledges weaker jobs and Warsh declines to commit to December. Yields and the dollar ease, BTC reclaims $81,500 and then $82,539, gold targets $4,075 to $4,100, and the Nasdaq clears 26,600.
Hawkish message: hike language stays and Warsh backs December or beyond. The 10-year pushes above 5%, the dollar firms, BTC loses $80,000 toward $79,146, and tech valuations come under pressure.
Muted: a hold with nothing new keeps the range intact until Thursday's data.
The confirmation test:
Compare the statement's wording on inflation and any dissents with Warsh's tone at 02:30 Beijing. Then check Thursday's 8:30 a.m. ET releases: third-quarter GDP, forecast near 3.0% to 3.2%, and September PCE, with core forecast at 3.1%. A hold followed by a hot PCE hardens December, while a soft print and weak jobs reopen the debate.
The core angle:
The hold is priced, and cuts are not on the table. The surprise would be Warsh pushing beyond December or sounding patient. That answers whether the decision breaks BTC's range: only a clear shift in December odds can, and the first tests are $80,000 below and $82,539 above. My focus is the rate path, with BTC levels as the readout.
